TBH think like many that the 70mil is way too high a price to pay :(
Especially if crocked :(
Will be nice if we can mix with bigger spending teams. Pressure will be increased next season if vvd comes in at that.
Fairly certain we need a lb more urgently
- wouldn't mind giving Moreno another shot though
You jest, surely <yikes>

Good thing about getting someone like Salah is that it gives us options in attack but also in midfield by allowing Cout to drop back if needed. Various way of lining up and it's hard to really see any of them being weaker than the other.

Gini Can Cout
Mane Firm Salah

(Origi, Lallana, Hendo back up)

Or

Gini Can Lallana
Salah Mane Cout

(Origi, Hendo, Firm back up)
Can mix things up based on the opposition and if we are dominating possession then can use first line up with Cout creating things from deep to the runners and movers up top, or if wanted to be counter attack can go 2nd with pace centrally and more solid midfield with Cout floating.

That second one is more of a team for a top 6 rival when space is possible.

So do I, not bothered about getting him but at the very least we should make rivals pay the maximum, something we haven't done much in the past but they've often jacked up the prices we've had to pay

Think if clubs are willing to pay the £70m then they've looked at his rehabilitation and recovery and decided its worth it. This would presume that everyone is happy with it and he's recovering well.

Frankly we should have looked to have this wrapped up earlier (yes I know its still very early), he's a highly in demand player and we knew its was likely Citeh and others would also potentially bid, who we can't compete with on the wages side. Got it all sorted earlier then we wouldn't be looking at £70m.

So far Citeh do seem to be attempting to buy the title. The way they're spending so early and spending so much (they're already at £78m!!)

City also want to minimise the embarrassment of spending so long chasing Pep only to instantly discover he's a [HASHTAG]#fraud[/HASHTAG]

Overpaying by tens of millions for players that could be "scouted" just by Googling "best football players" is an expensive but reliable way of making sure next season doesn't collapse as quickly as the previous one did

what like a mercy killing <yikes>

if he had shown the slightest sign of footballing intelligence i might agree but he hasn't despite that though i would have given him some game time in the second half of the season when Milner was clearly completely shot.

Easier said than done, surely?
van Dijk moving has been talked about for months, so there's no way the club, the player or his agent would have been rushing into the first offer that came their way. Everyone knows he's in demand so they're going to wait to see what's on the table before deciding. Time is on their side.
Quite frankly, if City decide they want him he's theirs (provided he's happy to go there), because no matter how much we offer they can keep adding some on.
This is how it works these days, rich enough though we are, we can still be blown out of the water by somebody else if they're dead set on it.
I wonder what happened to FFP, btw?

The mega money tv deal for Prem and CL has pretty much put an end to that. Clubs are making so much money from media that can still pay huge sums and not even sweat about getting close to breaking ffp

TBH, FFP went out the window as soon as a French club got mega rich owners and started to throw the cash around. Platini couldn't have a French club be punished, so FFP got bent until it broke.

No idea - I thought Balotelli could have worked <doh>
I would love to see Moreno succeed - very difficult to judge the defenders cause we haven't had much of a defence nor do we play to protect the defence.
Fairly certain I have read somewhere on here before and I agree with it that Milner makes just as many mistakes but just not as high profile.
Would like to see Moreno come into an established confident defence to see what happens
But as I said - I thought Balo could work and loads of others :)

It's still in force <ok>

Liverpool transfer news and rumours: Roma owner responds to Mohamed Salah reports
Roma's owner has opened up about Liverpool's £35million move for Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah.

"For now there is nothing. They continue to make offers for many of our players," James Pallotta is told Italian media.

"If this is the case, three or four of our best players could leave.

"We will see, but to improve we need four or five reinforcements."

Oxlade-Chamberlain ready to snub Liverpool to stay at Arsenal
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready to commit himself to Arsenal for the most important time of his career, writes John Cross.

Liverpool have been chasing the Arsenal midfielder and are desperate to try to lure him to Anfield this summer.

But Arsenal have made it clear they are determined to keep him and have begun talks over a new deal worth in excess of £100,000-a-week.

There must be other CB options that we are aware of. VVD is injured and £70M is getting silly.
The price is too high even for £50m> Profit margin is too much, if there are no takers he will be forced to hand in a transfer request. Not wise to pay £50M not to talk of £70M.

He clearly isn't worth £50m, but when clubs throw round world record fees for players like Pogba, it just gives other clubs a reason to demand more.

I would feel the same with Coutinho, probably worth something like £50m, but why wouldn't we ask for more than Pogba went for, as Coutinho is far better.

Defenders generally do not cost that much like Midfielders and strikers. I can't remember a defender that cost up to £70M in the premiership.
