I think we need to invest in a top striker and a top defender. And they come at that sort of price level (£50m). The price inflation for premiership football is so horrendous that for £30m you get some second tier/medium level player. Unless you are very lucky. As soon as there is some competition from the high spenders it is inevitably >£50m ! the role of CL football? . It may play a role all things being equal. But some clubs have overcome that handicap and we all know who they are.

Great ploy. All the shops do it, value something silly high, then when you drop the price and put it on sale at 50% off, people think it's a bargain
You probably do, trying to get some of those wages back
It all depends on what the buyer values him at and lets be honest, for a clinical striker £49m is not very high these days (if he is ever fit to play).

If we can get £25m or more then take it. Even if he is fit, doesn't suit the high energy work rate at the top end that Klopp wants so how much and how useful Is he going to be for us?
