Lol who knows if they'll be back ups - they're good enough to start for us but that's because they are simply better than the starters we have now.

Remains to be seen if they are good enough for us to be challenging for top 4/titles but as cheap options, the least they do is improve our squad in terms of quality, energy, physique and age.

He'll be on about 70k/80k a week? I'd imagine Camacho will come on 40-50k?

    Not really huge difference

Also, I made a post on Newcastle board and it's kind of relevant for Lucas.

Yeah he may not be best option at the moment, but he's stepped in this season and performed, even at CB in important games for us like the Cup semi and final and didn't disgrace himself.

But the point around Lucas is, he cares about this club. It's close to his heart, he'll run through brick wall for the club as he's an honorary Scouser. We don't have many local lads around the first team, and yes It's not vital having them but it is vital to have players who care about the club and understand the importance of it. He has more connection to this club than the captain and vice captain do and anyone else in the squad bar Flanno. You can't buy that connection as a quick fix.

Talent is obviously important but as many players have shown, talent without the commitment means nothing.

His attitude and professional are certainly commendable. However, he's simply not good enough. I know he received a lot of plaudits for his performances at CB which were certainly better than usual but it's still not good enough. We don't expect much from him therefore when he simply manages to stay on his feet or tie his shoe laces, we will praise.

I know it's harsh and I do agree that we need more players who understand the club like he does - but we need to offload him.

    Thinking exactly the same thing.

    Team =superior performance.

Real and city = bunch of individuals

Barca the ultimate team and player talent combo.

I'd rather we build a team than a bunch of guys looking for the next move

The ideal situation to have quality players who love the club ala Reina, Agger, Hyypia , Gerrard etc.

I wouldn't have someone who simply loves the club but doesn't meet the required standard.

So yes - I rather have someone who is quality and will likely move to Barca or real after 3-4 years, instead of someone who is passionate or loyal and thinks Liverpool is the pinnacle of their career.

He was very good at the basics.

  19. Very good at the basics and a perfect team player that allow more creative talented players the freedom and trust they need.

You don't like it but Flanno does the same thing. The players trust him. he does the basics things well and doesn't take risks, he knows his limitations. I think Clyne is of the same mould too.
