Real shame we didn't buy Alderweireld a few years back when we showed interest. Great defender. Possibly one of the best in the PL to be honest.
If you believe todays rumours we can have Hummels (one of the best in the world) for just £5m more than Lovren. Crazy prices for Prem players, its no wonder the Prem became flooded with foreign players. Especially when you consider Lovren was £20m
Simply no value in the British market and should avoided, unless a player has 12-18 months left on his contract, or we're buying a young players from academies or lower leagues. The annoying thing with the Lovren deal is that he was offered to us before he joined Soton for around £8m.
Jurgen Klopp is free to sign Borussia Dortmund players in January – but admits Liverpool cannot afford to regularly compete for expensive high-profile talent. There were suggestions on his Anfield arrival in October that a deal had been struck for Klopp not to raid his former club after departing in the summer. The German, though, has refuted the notion while insisting he maintains a good relationship with the Bundesliga side. And while Klopp has been linked with moves for Dortmund trio Ilkay Gundogan, Neven Subotic and Matt Hummels, he has sounded a warning not to expect a raft of his old players to follow him to Merseyside. “I have no agreement with Borussia Dortmund,” said the Liverpool manager. “I heard about an agreement, but no. Yet in my opinion it only makes sense to go for players we think we can get. “So if we want to battle down the road (Manchester City)... we can pay 100 (million), they can pay 120. It’s a crazy marketplace when you start doing this. please log in to view this image Ilkay Gundogan is one of several Borussia Dortmund players to be linked with Liverpool “There are so many mothers in the world that have brilliant sons, so you don’t always have to take the guys that everybody knows “Maybe you take one. But I have a good relationship still with Borussia Dortmund and with all the players. “There is nothing between us and if there was a possibility that we could get one of those players AND we needed him, then we could try it. “But there is no agreement, of course not. And there is no agreement that we can’t sell players to Borussia Dortmund!” The January transfer window will represent the first opportunity for Klopp to mould his squad having taken over from Brendan Rodgers. While the recruitment team continue to monitor a number of targets, the Liverpool boss will resist making any New Year moves unless absolutely necessary. And when quizzed on how much he has to spend, Klopp said: “I didn't ask (the owners), I'm sure we could (do something). The only answer I can give is we won't do anything only because it's possible. “We only want to do something if we feel it is necessary or there is an opportunity where we cannot say no, or our situation changes in a way where we have to take players in. “This decision isn't for today or tomorrow, but we are always preparing for the moment. That's what we have to do. “I'm here from morning through to night, so what shall I do all day when we only train once? “We sit together, we decide what we want to do, we talk about players and make sure we are prepared for the moment when we need it. “We talk about next summer, that's absolutely normal. But I don't feel at this moment it would help if we take five players.” Klopp added: “We would only take a player if we really want him. Three injuries in one position, then you take what you can get. “But normally you only take the player you really want. “No decisions at this moment. We only know that it’s possible in January but not more.” http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/klopp-im-free-sign-borussia-10519465

I didn't want him before he went to Chelsea, even less so now with him being a Chav reject and that much older. Then again, I didn't want Studge or Coutinho either so he might be a quality signing
Sam Hart warming up at half-time for #LFC so that might be it for Jose Enrique. Didn't have a great half and played just 45 mins v Benfica..Andy Kelly Think thats him done then.
