As has been the case for a number of years now. The first 11 looks good enough to compete. God forbid we have any injuries though.

Thisgo at 6 could work brilliantly as long as the two new lads don't mind running about for him.

If we get the press right, we will have a good season. If we get that fear factor back, teams thinking they've got to defend with 10, otherwise they get 5 put past them.

If like last season, there's no fear, teams no they can walk out and run through us, we are in the ****.

with trent stood beside him and neither moving much then it could be "fine"

until he leaves on deadline day of course.

only time will tell what we do v Chelsea but we can't judge by thst game alone. it does look like klopp has decided Jones until these see fit or someone is bought.

it's all about the forwards for me.

I agree alot rests on the forwards.

Nunez didn't have a clue how to press last season, he ran about alot, but it was pointless.

They really do need to be able to work as a unit, have the number 9 leading the press rather than the right midfielder.

Personally, I think we’ll concede a ton if we don’t buy a proper DCM or #6 or whatever you want to call the position. All of the players suggested for the position from the current squad have significant strengths on the ball but for this role, also have significant areas of weakness.

Completely agree but I also think that the same could be said of Diaz
He was a little hurricane and I loved his energy but more often than not he was running away/into trouble with very little end product

I hope both have them two have had a summer of learning because if they have they could be the key to an amazing season for me

With Thiago - he can only work there imho if Trent and Robbo don’t go walkabouts as Thiago won’t cover that ground. Also the biggest issue we have with Thiago is he is made of glass and never returns to good form straight from the off - normally takes a couple of games to see the best out of him then he gets injured again

hopefully the physio team have done some work too :)

Diaz is the same, alot if running but not much effect.

But is does need a organised approach, there's no point one player running like **** to close down if the rest of the team are stood watching.

I showed the team a few clips of firmino, mane and salah from a few years ago. It was incredible, Bobby and salah would go close to the defenders while mane looked disinterested. Then he'd fly towards the ball, the cb looked to pass it but firmino and salah would then be pushed right up, they'd panic like **** and usually either mis kick it or have no option to slam it aimlessly up the pitch.

All three worked together seamlessly, funneling the ball where they wanted it to go, if that failed henderson or wins where always stood in the gaps waiting to pick up the pieces.

It really was a sight to behold.

Much more to it than hard running.

And have to be careful in coming years as the 'lower spend' years drop off the radar

Aurélien Tchouameni is now seen as "expendable" according to reports out of Spain as Real Madrid try to clear the books for a move for Kylian Mbappe. However, it'll take at least €80 million to bring them to the table. Liverpool & Bayern are seen as the two best bets.

As much as we may need a DCM we also need a new centre back. Van Dijk was dreadful at times last year and that’s before we get to Matip.

    50mil net.

    38 spent so far.

    12 mil scope.

    add 10 for Phillips apparently

    22mil scope

we will soon find out of the figure of 50 is what's available to the club for transfers or not.

we'd put down 35 on macallister and 60 on szoboszlai before we heard of actual bids on Henderson and fabinho.

so can't give up hope that there was scope for another 50mil no top.

just enough for touchameni and frankly if he really was available he'd have to be a far better target than lavia.

100% , would be an excellent signing. Think Z is probably right though and Klopp would’ve moved on

that was the rate. they just don't want their fans to know it. they have europa football this season and know he's likely to fetch double that even off rangers and celtic in the end.

It would not Surprise me one bit of we spent another £150m in this window. It also wouldn’t surprise me if we spent nothing more. FSG have said that they would back Klopp. Their investors will be insisting that money is spent to protect their investment. It makes perfectly rational sense to invest in the squad if FFP is not an issue.
