As we seem to be splashing the cash.....

This time last year I was advocating Berahino, as there was rumours that we could get him for a little as £10mas he enteed the last year of his contract. We missed out there, imho, spending instead £16m on Balotelli, an especially as he's being touted at £25m nowadays. So my bargain shout this season is.. Dwight Gayle? Seriously, I think he's our type of player ad IF we cold get him @ £5m, and give him Lamberts wages...

Manchester United have joined Liverpool in pursuit of 28-year-old Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca, who has a £21m buy-out clause in his contract. (Daily Telegraph
Former Brazil star Ronaldinho says that it is a "dream" for Liverpool's strikers to have Philippe Coutinho and new signing Roberto Firmino, 23, in their side and "if you can't score goals in a team with Coutinho and Firmino in midfield then you wont score goals in any team". (Liverpool Echo)

I don't think Utd will really be in for Bacca.

Just think he's not their guy. They are fishing for a bigger name.

Anyway.

I think we will either hear Clyne deal is done at the money or its rejected shortly.

I think we will not see furthet movement until city stump up for sterling after this.

Bacca will have to wait. I dont see a long queue here either.

Would love to hear then if Digne is real link or not.

Nominal 433
Mingolet
Clyne skertl sahko Digne
Henderson Can milner
Firmino Bacca coutinho

Bogdan
Wisdom toure/Ilori lovern moreno
Allen Lucas lallana
Ibe Ings markovic
Not even including sturridge.

You'd have to say that we have a europa and league cup team going there.

Firmino needs to be central - play as the number 10 or as the false 9.

They also said that Pascoe and Marsh were safe, and didn't know anything about Firmino until the deal was done ...

Well now other than sky breaking the Firmino deal and say we were in for Bacca and Clyne too

Tony barrett broke the Clyne bid last night. He thinks we want benteke not Bacca too.

When we bid on kovacic then we will know.

Btw.. Inter have already spent so if they have to balance the books we will see.

That could occur for sure. If we buy Bacca I can see both coutinho and firmino playing quite central behind him.

I could see a 41212 either. 433 is just easiest to line up in.

Firmino fits the model of a flexible player for us.

Sky didn't break the news - Globo Esporte broke the news, which is the most reliable news outlet in Brazil - then everyone followed.

And also, we didn't hear much about the negotiations in the build up as we do for most transfers - only once it was practically done.

I would like to see a diamond:

Can holding

Coutinho and Hendo

Firmino at the tip of the diamond

Would be special.

Hmmmm not sure about that. It's an Anfield team for the day when a team sits back against US. Those days can come for sure... I certainly hope we frighten teams into it.

I would say can henderson Milner with coutinho at the top and firmino and X player up top would be more solid against a top half team

Yep, there's that option also.

But ... IF we signed Kovacic ... I'd have him and Hendo in the middle, with Coutinho as 10, Firmino up top plus one.

Would be beautiful!

Teams that do very well especially at home are those that can control the midfield. Our midfield has not been great in the last two years. Conceding too many goals or last minute equaliser can be blamed on midfield as well.

I agree but Rodgers doesn't want a proper DM so not lot else we can do.

Running around, working hard to win the ball is one thing but we also need quality on the ball which Milner and Hendo don't have enough of.

That's why I think it's best to have Can as DM, with one of Milner or Hendo as the legs and someone like Coutinho or Kovacic to get on the ball, beat a man, open up the space and link the midfield to attack.
