Money is all they do have atm. They've been thoroughly mediocre - by the standards they set previously - for almost a decade now. There's a considerable hangover from their dominance of the PL, but the football world is slowly getting over it.
No CL, nowhere near the level of the top 2, obvious problems with their structure and team morale which the new manager may or may not sort out. Unless they offer him a ****load of cash there's nothing to entice an ambitious top player to them if a better medium-term alternative exists.

Ffp rules are rules. You will have to work out all these jobbies based on stuff we don't actually know like the real terms of each transfer. We don't actually know how much Diaz cost nor if we paid over 2 or 3 years or all up front etc etc.
So in the absence (really sad) of our good friend and financial mentor we will have to make do with the 110 mil losses over 3 years rule plus the net spend basics. We lost 4mil and 46mil last two years as we managed the old covid stuff.
In fact we might even have better if we knew that the transfers will come from the new financial year and we are looking at 4mil loss. About 100mil profit and then this year.
Anyway in the end.... I think we've the cash for another midfielder.
