The good news is that we can sort out a pre-agreement for the summer, so I would be very surprised if we don't finalise the deal well before the summer. The club and players wants him, plus we gave them Neco to help keep relations good.
Dont think technically can talk to him and get him to sign anything until the summer. Unless we agree a fee with Fulham now and sort it out. Be interesting to see if we continue to push for him.
From Paul Joyce's tweet yesterday, we can arrange a fee and sort out a pre-agreement now so that he joins in the summer. Maybe that's just the agreement between us and Fulham, but given we already agreed personal terms with him, I wouldn't forsee any further issues? ...
Yeah that’s still possible I guess. It’s why I was confused why was such a rush as was always going to stay at Fulham for next 6 months anyway. But just think means we have to agree a fee with Fulham now (will Liverpool try play hardball and push for lower fee now?) otherwise will have to wait for summer to agree terms when he’s out of contract and then go to tribunal for a fee
He will go elsewhere now. Agent knows if he continues to play well the big European clubs will offer daft wages. If Fulham do well against City in the FA Cup and he plays well City will be in for him. Feel we may have missed our chance, unless something has been agreed behind the scenes for him to join in Summer, can't see how that would benefit Fulham though
not sure fully understand but seems like in the Prem you can submit a deal sheet before 11pm even if things aren’t all agreed which gives you extra 2 hour extension, However the EFL don’t do that so any agreements have to be made by 11pm. Begs the question, why the hell don’t the leagues use the same criteria
Yep I was thinking the same. I assumed that we couldn't sort out a pre-agreement because I thought he wad under 18 so in that case, we would have to wait until the summer which is when more clubs would likely come in. But he is 19, and Paul Joyce mentioned yesterday that we can do a pre-agreement before the summer. I'm guessing we just wanted to wrap up the deal and tick it off.
You can’t sign a pre contract with someone with 6 months left in England. Only foreign teams can. We can only talk to them 1 month before their contract expires, unless we agree a fee with Fulham.
A few 'trusted' people have mentioned that Fulham simply messed up the paperwork on their side, rather than them being d*cks and playing us. If this is the case, I'm sure we will finalise the deal before the summer.
Tbh don't think it makes much difference as long as people know the rules. Both sides knew they had until 11pm and didn't get it over the line. It happens. We had all window to move for him so it shouldn't come down to the last two hours.
As Bisc mentions above, it just looks like a cock-up over deal sheets, which apparently are used in the PL but not in the league. I'd say both sides messed up this one.
No football association is perfect but the EFL are a bunch of crooks. You only have to look at how they're handling the Derby situation to see they're incompetent.
Pleased with our window cos I never thought we'd buy anyone tbh. Not fussed about the Fulham lad, hell come end of season and he wasn't gonna play anyway
i wouldn't assume anything either way. my understanding is that LFC are now in a position that we do not want to agree any fee with Fulham at all. We want this to go to tribunal as the tribunal always favours the low ball bid. We can value him at 2mil and they can say 8 and the tribunal will say ok, 4mil. As such any deal will be with him alone and this will then go to tribunal but this can only be done in JUNE FIFA regulations state: "A club intending to conclude a contract with a professional must inform the player’s current club in writing before entering into negotiations with him. "A professional shall only be free to conclude a contract with another club if his contract with his present club has expired or is due to expire within six months. "Any breach of this provision shall be subject to appropriate sanctions." English leagues players agree a pre-contract with another English club: The six-month rule when it comes to discussions regarding a future change of scenery relates to teams outside of the country in which the player plies their trade at that time. Premier League players can, therefore, only enter into talks with interested parties outside of England – with the same regulations applying to those in Germany, Spain, Italy etc. Any player looking to move from one English team to another as a free agent can only open talks after entering the final month of their previous contract – with that effectively delaying discussions until any given season has come to a close. That is because domestic transfers are regulated by individual football associations, rather than world governing body FIFA. The FA in England is eager to ensure that there is no conflict of interest between clubs working under its remit, with mid-season, inter-competition free agent agreements banned as a result.
Re Diaz. Has klopp ever gushed over a new signing like this before? Cant wait to see him play for us. Also can't wait to see the reaction from sadio Exciting times.
I fully expect Carvlho to arrive in the summer now. I suspect one of the big two and/or Bobby will leave or we’ll be overloaded up top. We will need to replace Milner in the summer too.
