A gamble but he’s only 21 and under Silva last season looked a real player. His form dipped when Watford’s did, after Silva was tapped up by us.

Based on what, their reputations at other clubs? Don't they have to earn your trust by what they do at your club?

Silva has worked with him before and Brands wanted to buy him for PSV before Watford did.

So they both obviously rate the player.

Do you want me to slate their judgment before we’ve even kicked a ball under them? I’m sure you did exactly that with numerous Liverpool managers........oh wait.

They obviously do rate the player or they wouldn't have bought him. He's still got to fit in at Everton though. That was my point. You surely have to wait and see if these players fit your club, your style etc. before you just blindly trust the judgment of two people who've barely set foot in your club.

Nobody's asking you to ''slate their judgment'' either. I'd say caution was the order of the day unless and until they earn your trust. But that's just me <laugh>

In terms of slating a manager's judgment before a ball's been kicked, I did exactly that with Rodger's - I was cautious when he came and after his initial interview when he said ''everyone's for sale at the right price'' my caution turned to mistrust fairly quickly - funnily enough <ok>
 
I was wrong about Salah, I'll admit it. And I hope I'm wrong about Allison too: he's obviously a level or three above Migs and Karius, but not at the level of Coutois (sp) and De Gea, though he should be at that price. More importantly, I don't think he's the dominant big gob like Clem, Schmeichal or Southall that we need there. Then again, I think we 'overpaid' for VVD - but we didn't really as he was, of course, exactly what we needed. It's like when Utd bought Ferdinand from leeds for an absurd amount from Leeds, but he was what they needed.

Happy with the Shaqiri buy for that money. Should be a sound bench/rotation player. Like to think we still get rid of Markovich, Studge, Ings and maybe even Lallana and still make a push for a Fekir or even Dyabla - maybe? Otherwise, not bad buys. Still think we need another squad CB though, as Matip is injury-prone and Gomez still developing. Has hoped for Lascelles from Newkie, tbh.

I think Richarlson and Sigurdson will work well together, especially with Silva as manager

Courtois has been average for a year or so. Few chelsea fans I know aren’t that fussed he’s off although want more money for him
