Liverpool have taken pole position to sign Xherdan Shaqiri, presumably inspired by Champions League conquerors Real Madrid.
“While the Spanish are led by human Ken doll Cristiano Ronaldo, Jurgen Klopp must have targeted Shaqiri because he’s like an action man – in height, at least.
Switzerland international Shaqiri, 26, has a £12million release clause in his Stoke contract that can now be activated after they were relegated.
When did action man start making Hobbit dolls?

His agent is touting him around, cause no one wants his ego

.@LFC appoint Philipp Jacobsen, from the Qatar-based Aspetar facility, as medical rehabilitation and performance manager. Considering some of the long injury lay-offs suffered last season this seems a good, proactive move

Reds announce four UK pre-season friendlies

Liverpool FC's 2018-19 pre-season programme will get under way with four UK friendlies this July.

  • Chester FC v Liverpool, Saturday July 7 - 3pm
  • Tranmere Rovers v Liverpool, Wednesday July 11 - 7.30pm
  • Bury v Liverpool, Saturday July 14 - 3pm
  • Blackburn Rovers v Liverpool, Thursday July 19 - 7.45pm
The Reds will play Chester FC at the Swansway Chester Stadium for the first time in what promises to be an exciting start to the team's pre-season preparations.

This will be the third consecutive summer that the squad have visited Prenton Park after previously running out 1-0 winners in 2016 with striker Danny Ings scoring, before last year's 4-0 victory.

Next, the Reds will head to the Energy Check Stadium. Liverpool and Bury will meet for the first time at the Shakers' home since 1962, when 21,871 fans watched Bill Shankly's side win 3-0 at Gigg Lane.

Jürgen Klopp's team are also set to face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. The clubs last met in a 2015 FA Cup sixth-round replay that LFC won 1-0.

These games will precede the Reds' visits to the United States for the International Champions Cup (July 22-28) and Ireland, where they will take on Napoli at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday August 4.

Tickets for the pre-season friendlies in the UK will go on sale soon. Fans should check liverpoolfc.com/tickets/tickets-availability for ticket notice

Its all away games but not away games if you get my meaning. All local for training and working hard. The US tours thing is as short as it can be.

Realisticall though those first 4 games give some kids like wilson a chance to show that they can appl what he is telling them in training.

(and yes its largely meaningless and half paced games but tactically its important)

Shaqiri? Just like clockwork.

Next we will be linked to Arda Turan and Figo.

Simon Stone just repeats Mourinho's bullshit without question, bearing in mind he's at Old Trafford more than the manager and players it's not surprising.

"Manchester United have signed the "best young full-back in Europe" in Diogo Dalot, says manager Jose Mourinho.

The 19-year-old, who has made seven first-team appearances, has signed a five-year contract after the Red Devils agreed to pay Porto £19m for him."

Best in Europe based on 7 games.<laugh>

Shaq is a weird one, he's about as polar opposite as to a typical Klopp player could be. Slow, lazy and doesn't press. Rather have Pobga ffs.

Liverpool interested in Shaqiri. Klopp wants to bolster his squad by recruiting two more attacking players. Fekir remains the main target, although Lyons have so far refused to set a definitive price, which has complicated discussions, writes @_pauljoyce

Discussions will continue on whether to proceed with the interest in Shaqiri and, if the release clause is correct, Liverpool at least know the amount he will cost. Fekir has been rated at around £53m, but Lyon have so far refused to actually name their price. (Paul Joyce)

Roma are also proving difficult over goalkeeper Alisson, who is Liverpool’s first choice, while Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak has an £88 million release clause. Klopp has already recruited £52 million Naby Keïta and £39.3 million Fabinho. (Paul Joyce)

So Paul knows pretty much nothing then <laugh>

He’s an interesting character - no doubt he’s talented but questions over attitude and work rate.

At £12m, I’d take the risk as a back up option for the front three. Looks like klopp is addressing both starting XI and depth.

Ideally you get backup good enough to worry the first team. I don't think our front 3 will be losing much sleep over this one.
