Never knew he was a Liverpool fan... One of those were I can't bring myself to dislike him but glad he's gone He's had a rough few years and been very strong to still be playing at this level.
good news! I agree with Yoda... he really had a tragic time there but it is what it is too. We are chasing the top end of the tbale and he is championship. It'd be nice for him to tkae his money and be careful with it and look after his family and find himself a club where he can actually play
Great finish from Milner. Broke away from Swansea corner, got the ball from aguero cut inside the full back and slid into the bottom corner. Still dont see why why people would be against him on a freebie
The only two reasons could be 1. Not called Milnerinho 2. Legs might give out after a year In the end lfc are Poor and turning our noses up at players doesn't help when they are actually better than what we have. Turn you noses up at the aspas type sure but we know milner is twice the player Allen is
4. He's better than what we have, but still not good enough to move us forward as a team. 5. We've already got Henderson, Allen, Lucas and Can who aren't leaving. 6. He wouldn't be free. 'Free transfer' players always have a signing on fee - Joe Cole was 5million ffs! 7. He'd want circa 100k wages...for a rotation midfielder?
4 - If he's better than what we have, then surely logic dictates he would improve us and move us forward. 5 - Because 4 central midfielders are more than enough for a whole season, especially when one (Lucas) is injury prone and likely to move on. 6 - All players have a signing on fee, so his transfer fee will still be 0 (ie cheaper than buying him for £10m) 7 - He wouldn't be a rotation midfielder, he's be one of the first names on the team sheet at the moment. He'd put more effort in than most of our team and is an upgrade on Allen & Lucas while Can hasn't really played CM for us so shoving him in and expecting him to be the saviour in a position he's not played is unrealistic.
An improvement doesn't necessarily mean we should get them...Milner would improve our midfield, but not enough. He isn't a game changer, nor a game winner. He's a better Henderson on higher wages and much older. He's the type of player a good team has in the XI, but with superior more technical players around him. We don't have those technical players aside from Coutinho. We need far better quality players than Milner to take us forward instead of getting a slightly better Henderson who does his job fine. Keep Henderson and Can as the solid players and get some quality in and around them instead. Allen, Henderson, Can and Lucas will all be here next season. Coutinho is sometimes a midfielder too as the tip of a 4man midfield. That's 5 midfielders of which only one has genuine quality right now. We don't need another ok midfielder to select from or to push Can/Henderson to the bench. We need a top midfielder to come in and push them to the bench. Suppose Cole was a bargain then, he cost zip. Fine, since signing on fees are typically paid over the course of their contract, lets say he picks up 5million and would be on a 3 year deal on 100k base salary (not unrealistic). That bumps his wages by 30%. Point is, nothing is free. It still costs us to sign him outside of his standard wage and it annoys me how people neglect that. If we roll into next season with Allen, Henderson, Can, Lucas and Milner as our midfield options, I wouldn't exactly feel confident...they're all ok midfielders. We need better than ok to step forward.
Reading this.... Is coutinho the only one of quality right now? Are you saying Allen is tosh? are you saying can can't ? Are you saying genders on really isn't the next Gerrard like he thinks?
Completely agree - Milner represents a waste of money. We can't afford to give £100k on players who simply aren't worthy. They should be for the elite level. As already mentioned, it's all well and winning the title but how integral was he to that? Answer - not very. Surround him with quality, and he becomes a great utility player. Problem is, we need the quality players in order to make him look good. And also, he rarely played CM for City and he's been there for 5 years. What makes people think he can simply slot into our midfield? He's not a cheap option, despite being on a free.
Former Southampton striker Rickie Lambert is being lined up for a return to the south coast with Premier League new boys Bournemouth after the 33-year-old has struggled for game time at Liverpool this year. (Daily Mirror) Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic, 25, who has failed to establish himself as a regular at Ethiad Stadium. These all sound real to me. Lambert would help Bournemouth and big wicked probably has house on south coast still Jovetic has been linked to us before And gaal van Gaal has started the De gea stuff himself
I think we all see Milner correctly, yes he is a good player and would improve us but I wouldn't want him if it would mean we are not signing a top midfield player, we need better than Milner and if we get both then I'm happy.
