Everton are interested in Burnley boss Sean Dyche becoming their new manager and are likely to make an approach for him in the next 24 hours. (Sky Sports)
So true. leicester needed it. We came close to it but in our case it was more "bad luck" that prevented us from getting it. Without a slip at the wrong time, we would definitely have won the title by now. And like everything else the consequences would have been huge. As champions we would have had better players interested, FSG would invested more and sucess tends to breed success. We just need that bit of luck, now more than ever.
On the flip side, if Suarez had won the title for Rodgers he'd still be here with his dazzling white teeth illuminating Anfield on these cold dark mornings, but once Suarez went his bubble would have burst just like it did anyway, he wasn't capable of sustaining success but FSG would've kept him on regardless.
Imo you make your luck. Remember that 3-2 v West ham.... awful performance in that season and I recall mingolet flog. We showed mentality and desire then. I was just looking at our results this year. Watford 3-3 we're just hanging on at end. Threw in last goal. They deserved it though. Burnely 1-1. They actually scored first and salah replied instantly. We couldnt create anything. Newkie 1-1. We score then literally throw one in. Couldnt break them down. City 0-5. We were in it til red but we have up imo and city could have had 10. Spurs 1-4. Absolutely threw in 3 goals. It seems to me that our mentality is weak. Is it luck or could a bit more desire at times this season could have us up in 3rd place? Just a thought. Every year we see these results. If you are not tough and on it in this league you have bad results. Our next fixtures are Maribor home West ham away Internationals Southampton home Seville away Chelsea home Stoke away Brighton away. Spartak home Everton home Now.... if we are serious there are 4 winnable league games there and a top 4 rival at home which has to be a draw. Imo we could literally do anything in these games. West ham draw, Southampton draw, Chelsea draw, wjo knows whst v stoke, brighton ? I would be very very upset if we draw the next 2 as we need to win them BUT... our away form is so poor I can see us **** it. Now's the time to step up imo... on our best form we can win all those games. But imo we dont hit our best form very often.
Too glib. Of course it's pointless to whine about bad luck because it happens to everybody - but it is a factor. Whatever you want to call them, luck, circumstances, coincidences - random events often have huge repercussions.
You aint wrong saint, take our friends up the Lancs for an example, Martin Edwards never gave Ferguson the vast amounts the Glazer's did, and early on in Fergie's time at OT(6 years), a crop of youngsters came through the ranks all basically at the same time and we're an integral part of Fergie's successes, that along with Howard Wilkinson selling Cantona to their fierce rivals for a pittance. Very very lucky Utd, to prove it was luck with the "class of 92" Fergie could never repeat the same thing in the rest of his tenure. And the rest as they say is history.
Luck or fate plays a role like in many walks of life. The mancs had luck in many areas: 1. Cantona sold to them by Wilkinson (why did he do that you may ask?) 2. Class of 92 when 5 or 6 youngsters from their academy appeared. That meant stability for more than a decade. "All" Ferguson needed to do was to add the odd player or two each year keeping the core of Giggs, Scholes, Beckham Neville etc etc.
Well..... I can't really accept this. 1. In 1991/2 Utd were 2nd. Thry brought Giggs through yes but they got in schmicheal, parker and had bruce and pallister. They also had irwin, ince and kanchelskis. That says to me they had the basis of a top team there. 2. Yes they got Cantona and Wilkinson was absolutely nuts to sell to them. 3. Ok they brought in Beckham, scholes and neville and to a lesser extent butt but they were already champions doing this. Further these didn't really play in 92/93 and agsin I would contend they bought Keane and won the league in 93/4. 4. Imo in 94/5 they played those kids more but finished 2nd.... so.... Imo it was strong building for years that delivered success not a fluke set of kids or one transfer.... Sorry. The lesson is imo that if a club builds well (spurs have) then they can get up there but you have to complete tge puzzle to win titles. Others why I hate that people question klopp now when we need to be building well over time. We have about a third of a good team and it's too slow for some
forward at RB Liepzig. Good(ish) works the line well but not the most clinical imo should fit right in
Wasn't he the one who asked to be substituted because the noise from the crowd was making his ears sore, fat chance he would survive the Kop in full voice. He would be OK at a quieter ground like Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge
