stoke away: due to thie rnew style we can win this as end of season game it'll be a good one i feel.

6 games, 5 can be won... we will see what kind of balls our team has cos frankly tottenham and southampton are good units who can do better than us.

7th, villa win cup and we are out of europe. thats i hope the very worst that can happen now. we have 10 points on swansea. we'd need to lose more than half the games to be worse than 7th

we've a game in hand on spurs and southampton.

Lets just say ok spurs play southampton, city and everton as well as hull and stoke... southampton play spurs, sunderland, leicester, villa and city.

Surely to god one of these two will eliminate the other from the race for 5th.... then if you look at it spurs have it easier than southampton as southampton have to play relegation candidates while spurs have peopel alreay on hols.

Both play city... fingers cross both beat them but a draw here and there...

Well Lests put it this way we need to win the two games coming in quick succession and go from there

Best case is 4th... It MIGHT happen but is a very long shot. 5th should be the expectation from here and 7th a disaster.

I'd like to be sitting in cup final day cheering villa on not arsenal so I'd like a good run form here even if it keeps rodgers job for him.

Liverpool have reportedly been given the all-clear to open talks with PSV winger Memphis Depay about a summer transfer to Anfield after boss Brendan Rodgers received assurances about his future with the Reds.

It is claimed that the Reds coach wants to sign more established players to slot straight into the first-team in the upcoming transfer window, and sees PSV's in-demand man as an ideal signing.

The Eredivisie side are thought to have given Liverpool permission to hold talks with Depay - who will reportedly cost upwards of £15million to £18million to recruit - after the Reds previously made preliminary contact with the winger.

The 21-year-old is also being chased by Liverpool's rivals Manchester United who, according to PSV, asked about the availability of the player following the club's Dutch title win at the weekend, which Depay scored in.

Sure re it said somewhere Spurs had a £14m bid rejected in summer so would think he'd be going for at leads £20m after the season he's had.
 
Depay will go for at least £20m - quality player.

Type of player we need to sign to make an impact. Shame we bought Lallana ...

its the metro lads... ffs... they've obviously just took the utd link and changed the name to LFC. the price is total bs too. he will go above 25mil
 
To be fair, a lot of the local journos are now reporting, so there is definite interest.

Whether we land him or not is another question.

one would hope so... a superstar can be created... was hazard a superstar no.. but he was ready to be one given the platform. IS Depay a superstar... no not yet.

That kind of thing. what we are looking at the side not going and doing early enough so we see a queue forming on players we all get excited baout.

but then the club turns in a can and an origi and maybe they get developed into superstars

Its like shaqiri... I am thinking we did try there.

Its not like eriksen, we never tried.

We cannot try for all but my problem is we end up buying lallana and balotelli for bigger sums on probably higher wages. Imagine this year if a couple risks were taken... like depay, lazacette or any numbe rof names who might do a markovic but would i'd have confidence not do a bloody balotelli
 
I was gutted that we didn't go for Eriksen, never mind not getting him. However, in hindsight it might have been a blessing. Would Coutinho have been as influential if Eriksen had taken up that central role?

Apparently we had a deal agreed for Erikson but pulled out because Coutinho performed so well as a play maker. Coutinho was signed to play out wide.

I agree with creating a super star. Suarez was not a super star.

A poster of Henderson, Mignolet, Coutinho, Sterling and Sturridge is not quite the same impact as a poster of Gerrard, Reina, Carragher, Suarez and Kuyt, so the club will be going all out.

who knows.

My strong opinion is lallana was bought to directly replace coutinho as rodgers wasn't sure the lad had it all consistent. Think about it he's not played "ACM" in a 3 once this year he's been stuck wide left... was he to replace sterling?

maybe he was to "compete" to put it nicely.

for my mind eriksen and coutinho could have been brilliant together... any team you put two really good players like that toghter in behind a striker will do well

Eriksen, Coutinho and Sterling behind Studge sounds great doesn't it? Is not though. Coutinho and Eriksen go quiet if played wide, Sterling's not as effective out wide either IMO. Plus Studge is constantly injured lol

I don't know about that. it seems we never moved.

funny how all year coutinhos been pushed wide left then.... and see semi final.. relegated at 1-1 to mind moreno rathe rthan play central when we really needed it.

I dunno about impact... impact is created by performance... reina was a oh we signed a spanish keeer when he signed is he any good.. or suarez... oh sit the biter and handball merchant... not the star of the WC... or Carra-la... and any poster with kuyt face o nit i don't want to see ;)

Yeah gerrard and torres started icon status up big time for us.. .the torres hysteria and celebration was unprecedented i think in LFC history. All the real start sof our history who won tonnes of medals didn't get that but then it was another time.

We lack a true superstar Icon the kids and plastics can waffle about this is true.

ANd yes one superstar can make a club more attractive to players coming in.... a real one not a faded one BTW.

RAFA BENITEZ is willing to become the interim boss at Manchester City.

The Premier League champions are considering a stunning move for Benitez to replace Manuel Pellegrini, as exclusively revealed in Starsport.
City bosses could hand Benitez a 12-month deal while they wait for Pep Guardiola to see out the remainder of his contract at Bayern Munich.
And it emerged last night that the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss is keen on a return to English football at the Etihad.
A source close to the Spaniard said: "He has always wanted to work in the Premier League again because he thinks it's the best place to be.
"It would have to be the right offer for him and managing Manchester City appeals to him. It's something he would definitely be keen on."
Pellegrini is facing a losing battle to keep his job at the Etihad following a woeful run of six defeats in the last nine games.

City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak is expected to axe Pellegrini at the end of the season and Benitez, who still owns a home on Merseyside, has emerged as a shock contender to replace the Chilean.
Al-Mubarak knows Benitez, 54, has won trophies in three different countries and has vital experience of managing teams in the Champions League.
He is coming to the end of his contract at Napoli and has decided to leave the Italian outfit this summer.
Guardiola remains the board's No.1 choice to replace Pellegrini, but he revealed earlier this week that he will not be leaving the German giants at the end of this season.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is also on the club's shortlist of targets but there are no guarantees he will leave the Bernabeu this summer.
It means the billionaires could now decide to hand Benitez a 12-month deal and the chance to take the team forward, instead of sticking with Pellegrini.

He took on a similar role at Chelsea in 2012 when he became interim manager and led the Blues to the Europa League title.
Benitez, who has won two trophies during his spell in Naples, led Liverpool to the Champions League title in 2005 and FA Cup the following season before leaving Anfield in 2010.
Pellegrini, meanwhile, has been handed a much-needed boost with the return to training of David Silva.
The Spanish star suffered a suspected broken cheekbone in last weekend's home win over West Ham and was rushed to hospital after needing an oxygen mask and eight minutes of treatment on the pitch.
But tests revealed the 29-year-old suffered no fractures and Silva re-joined his team-mates at Carrington yesterday in a bid to prove his fitness in time for Saturday's visit of Aston Villa
