Ok leave Lucas out of it and Moreno, I think what Saint is saying is that players like Studge, Lovren, Milner, Hendo even Clyne should be retained and used in the squad. Wouldn't be a bad bench.
Exactly, thank you.<ok>
I use Lucas as an example because he keeps cropping up. My point is that we can't just get rid of players we don't see as the best until we have replaced them with an improvement, otherwise we remain with the thin squad that we all know is a problem.
I think a lot of the get-rid comments are driven by personal preferences rather than a practical strategy to improve the squad.

Oh yeah deffo agree.

I was talking about Lucas as an isolated example. He shouldn't be a first or second choice option, nor is he a talented youngster therefore he should go.

And Moreno isn't trusted, nor is Sakho, nor is markovic.

Timo Werner is a cracking player, would be perfect for klopps system but the striker I want is Dolberg. This kid is special.

Keita for midfield as well please.

Monaco have rejected a £64M (€75M) offer from Liverpool for their French wonderkid striker, Kylian Mbappe. [Marca] [HASHTAG]#LFC[/HASHTAG]

I agree.

Plus if we suddenly stick 5 new players in our team we'll be all over the shop. We need our current players to help bring the best out of any new players, but you can't just stick 5 players in and hope they're mind readers.

Realistically we'll probably buy 3 players of high quality and see them introduced slowly at the start of the season. We might buy a couple of squad options on top, but we're not going to replace half the team like some on here think!

The aim is to keep enough solid pros to fall back on if necessary. Like I said, we're not in a position to have 2 top-class players across the park, so there are bound to be times when we're looking to fill in with someone who isn't ideal but is a reasonable fall-back option.
Isn't that why we have a squad? It's threadbare atm, so why dump players when they're not adequately replaced and perpetuate that situation?

My belief is that watching him lately hes struggling but doing ok but he wouldnt cope with 10 games in a row next year for us before he would be a wrung out rag.

The point you make in having senior guys to fall back to is fine... mine is if say can gets injured in confed cup and henderson breaks down again... oh oh.. lucas in for 10/15 games. We wont achieve our aims no matter how experienced ir solid a pro he is.

Imo wijnaldum could be a squad player next year. He is experienced and a good pro too.

Can/henderson is an either or choice.

Lallana or coutinho at no 8?

Id like us to buy another cm and try improve and keep all above not keep lucas, simply cos he is the guy who cannot play games week in week out.

The same goes for ings and sturridge and i have doubts about origi
We need a couple replavements up there too.

I would advocate keeping milner as our squad player cos he will just about be anle to run about next year but his time will come too. Surely in this context a nive goodbye for lucas is in order with much appreciation and wonder what might have been if not for that knee injury.

Or you buy them early and train 3 times a day ala klopp.

Realistically if we say we cant we can write off next year too.

Klopp is bedded in. If anyone can integrate the team he can. A lot easier than a new manager communicating new ideas.

My view is two players in back line... coutinho moved. At least one up top and holding cm is a question.

Thats 4... but squad also needs work on bench.

If we do end up with lovren, milner, wijnaldum, henderson/can, origi thats not terrible is it.

It's a strong bench and come league cup/fa cup games were field a strong team with some younger lads not the u18's like this season.

If we buy early that's a possibility. A big 'if' though going by how we usually do business.

true.

I am just hoping we get a nice mix.

Klopp will want them done prior to preseason so this is a big chance for our new CEO and "head of recruitment" (mito spits) to show tha they are competant

However its not in our hands, every agent, player and other club decides when. we just make offers

I'd LOVE 3 major signings in june.
