I'm happy with Ings at the right fee, but I do have some concerns.

Currently we have Sturridge, Balotelli, Lambert and Borini, but I expect Lambert and Borini to leave.

If my expectations are correct and Ings also joins we will have Sturridge, Balotelli, Ings and Origi.

That is not bad. In fact its a clear improvement as 3 of the players have a perfect style for our system and the other offers a good alternative options.

But I would prefer some one better than Ings and Origi among those options, like Lacazette or Aubemeyang. If we signed Ings and some one better I feel we would be just stock piling players which I dont like, and Ings would just end up frustrated through a lack of games. Its also puting out a lot of excess wages. Have 5 strikers competing for 1 or 2 spots could also reduce young players chances of a game.

The people in change of signings and money at LFC are very careful and cautious about these things so I think there is no way they would let the player stock pile form. So would signing Ings mean no big striker signing?

I dunno... I have an open mind.

ings on a tribunal fee say of 3mil is nothing these days... so if you said to me well he is replacing lambert... (who should have gone to ****ing palace the mad man) then ok.. lambert can't run this lad can.

If you said to me hey this is our main line purchase then no... **** that we need more if we even get in europa next year.

So all in all.... I don't really know if he's got enough to develop to be actually good enough for a top 5 side which is what we eventually want all our players to be after all...

SO yeah... borini and lambert and maybe balotelli have to go.... that would be my call anyway... if we bring this guy in and have jerome sinclair as a 19 year old then we need to BUY one front line striker to go with sturrdige

My strategy this summer would be:

a) get everyone signed up. coutinho, sturridge done, sterling? henderson ?
b) sell off borini, lambert, balotelli
c) buy ings as a young third option
d) buy a new main line striker of real top 4 quality... 30mil
e) look at other options for rest of pitch.... CM in particular. another 30mil

For me ings makes sense in terms of being a cheap option as third line with sinclair as well potentially going even on loan for 6 months and then the money should go on a gerrard and balotelli replacement... we should be 100% better next year if we've two real first team players who have quality and can run and fit in.

right now gerrard cna't run and balotelli doesn't fit so is a sub... 50 mil to 60mil... i hope there is suarez money from second installment payment there and also i hope CL money <laugh>

I actually forgot about origi... with him coming i certainly can see balotelli going as he would be that different option.

can see then that sinclair should then go on loan for sure... use ings and origi as 3rd and 4th options in cups... or europa who knows... <laugh>

i'd but that top top striker though... its madness to rely on sturridge.

£6m?! You're having a laugh. Will be most expensive Bosman signing in history.

Reckon on it'll be about half that which isn't too bad

Look it's not a free! It's an u24 so it is a tribunal

However.... Burnett have said they'd rather his goals now and the expectation of a better fee off tribunal than sale on jan

Therefore 4 or 5 mil might happen

I rather we sign quality players who can go straight into the first team, before even looking at 3rd choice, squad players.

We need both. Our squad strength is better this year but not everything works out and we will need to let some squad players go and they will need to be replaced. Ings for £3 or £4 million is ok.

We need quality first teamers first and foremost.

We're not going to get anywhere if we continue to sign lads from Soton or Danny Ings.

We have a quality young player coming back, in Origi. Sell Lambert and Borini, and we'll have an attack of Mario, Sturridge and Origi. Then if needed ,buy a quality striker like Lacazette. Don't just buy someone like Ings because we need options.

I don't disagree in that we need to sign quality and that the first team needs to be strengthened, thus strengthening in depth naturally. However, FFP means that we can't simply sign up 22 players all on big money (unfortunately), not yet anyway. We'll need to blend in squad players (on lower money) and some kids. Whichever way you look at it, signing Ings will be profitable for the club and gives a half decent lad a chance to make the big time. It's good business all round. <ok>

BTW, Origi has not been great this year. He'll need a full season to get to grips with the way we play and the new league. It's not nailed on that he'll make it here so I'd rather not have him as a nailed on success before his arrival! Would love to buy Lacazette to give us a front 4 of Studge, Lacazette, Ings, Origi.

Means Mario and Borini will need to be moved on though and there's no guarantee that either will want to leave <ok>

When paired with someone who does his work for him you mean? <laugh>

He's never far away from the next headline. I say flog him and take a hit on him. £10m and he's yours!! <ok>

Based on current form I'd want to at least break even or he can stay

Buying quality doesn't mean we have to spend a lot of money - Coutinho, Sturridge and Can cost around £30m.

Alternatively, just because we spend big on one player does it mean that we've got quality i,.e. Lovren and Lallana.

So I think we can still buy quality players who can come into the first team at affordable prices.

Liverpool transfer target Danny Ings rejects Real Socked a as his heart is set on Anfield

Burnley will make more money if free-agent striker joins Reds as they would have to pay around £6m in compensation while he'd only cost Spaniards £300,000

Desperate Dan: Ings has decided he'll be a Liverpool player next season

Danny Ings has turned down a move to Real Sociedad - to join Liverpool this summer.

Burnley striker Ings flew to Spain this month as David Moyes' La Liga club have targeted the 22-year-old, who is out of contract this summer.

But Sociedad know they have missed out on Ings, who has now set his heart on a move to Anfield at the end of the season.

Tottenham, Manchester City and - surprisingly - Chelsea have all been in for the Burnley hot-shot.

But Ings has made up his mind to move to Liverpool, who courted him in January when Burnley insisted he stay put.

Danny Ings 2014/15 league stats

23 Games
9 Goals
4 Assists

While Ings will have his pick of the interested clubs, him moving to Liverpool will be better for Burnley than a switch to Spain.

Ings is under 24 and the Clarets would only get around £300,000 in a compensation package if he joined Sociedad.

Liverpool would have to pay a bigger compensation fee, of around £6million, as he would be staying in this country.

The Ings saga looks set to rumble on.

Of we're really going to sign him, we should do a deal with Real Sociedad. They sign him paying the £300k compo and then we but him from them for £3m. Everyone's a winner (bar Burnley)

Borini wil be off. Admire him wanting to fight for his place but not worked out and best for all of he moves on back to Italy or to a lower prem team.

Shame me well prob only get about 6/7m for him and not the 14m could have got from Sunderland.
