its nuts seeing ferguso lied to him, failed to get him on a new deal then let him talk out on a free... then savaged the guy cos he knew he ****ed it. Utd.. the only club to pay 112 million for their own player. ................... but he's still a really good player and improves utd.
He's a good player no doubt, but I don't think he is a game changer like a Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez type. And the prem. isn't the stroll Serie A is................................we shall see
no he's not but....again de gea bailly pogba mikhitaryan ibrahimovic build a side round that lot... I think utd will be close to the top this year.
The thing is, £10m for a footballer is nuts, but who thinks that any more (apart from me)? It goes up all the time and people say how ridiculous it is until the next hike makes it seem reasonable. It will keep going up until the bubble bursts - it's madness, not to mention obscene in a world with so much true poverty.
Totally agree Saint, I was looking at the figure within the current market. £10m is nuts, £5m is nuts, even £1m is nuts. Wages are nuts etc. etc.
Back in my day But yeah agree, you almost have to take it out of context with real life though or you start comparing it to things that really make a difference (how much medicine could be brought for £100m and distributed free of charge to those in need etc) and t becomes utterly depressing.
Exactly - football exists in its own hermetically sealed world removed from the realities faced by most of its followers. It can't go on like that forever though - I know people will say billionaire owners, TV money, blah blah blah, but eventually if it prices out its consumer market it will all go tits up. History has many a lesson in economic bubbles bursting.
I think right at the top end there is a business call. The more boastful mancs like to think that madrid are now bust rather than thier club just paid a STUPID fee. when madrid bought ronaldo they shows a clear business plan that justified the buy. They bought james and they have been trying to hck him cos it was obviously way over paid. They bought bale and want to keep him badly so that deal must be knowing out. like......... if the case exisits to make the money back in increased image rights madrid will do it but the fee utd have paid? they'll never see it back. Ibrahimovic was right i na way.. he said they'd make it on his shirt sales. Utd paid ibrahimovic a mad wage for two years o nthe expectation that even 20 goals would sell so many shirts he'd be a huge profit for them. They bought mkhtiaryan for result on pitch. Pogba? 112mil? theres no results nor shirts form a midfielder thats going to turn that. he is 23? that does play a part here. like............ lfc cna't talk.. mane won't repay his fee in shirts.
With Pogba your still paying for potential too, which is poor on Man u's behalf. Man City bought Sterling on the potential of being a world beater and atm is failing. Pogba has shown nothing really to be absolutely incredible, maybe he might hit World class but would jump ship to Real Madrid immediately. Pogba has done himself in on the deal as well, if he doesn't get on with Man u when he turns up and just doesn't hit his potential he will be known as the worst signing in history due to his price tag and Man u wouldn't ship him unless it was big money. Massive money on a player who know one knows what they will get out of him, scary thought.
you are but its a "star" who's yuong and should be there fore 7/10 years in theory. You should not be paying for anything over 5 years in terms of return on his contract though. I do agree he's got a bit to go to be a top star but then IMO so has bale. Pogba has a huge ego though.
What's funny about it? Pogba is ****ing awesome and will massively improve their side. The fee is merely where the game is at the minute. Watford turned down £28m for Troy Deeney ffs. Stones is about to go for £50m. It's mental but I don't see what's amusing, as they'll be a far better side with him in it.
The fact that they let him go 6 years ago for something like £700k? And are now buying him back 6 years later for £112m ish. Had that been us then I'm sure you and the Mancs would both be laughing as well. No ones doubting the fact that he's a good player, but is he good enough to make him the most expensive player in the world?
He walked on a Bosman I think (the £700k was compo), which will probably rank as Fergusons biggest **** up I suppose
I guess it's more a laugh at Fergie than anything mate. United are getting a fantastic player, no doubt about it.
So Pogba = Done deal What's with all the surprise and outrage ? **** is just normal now. It's not right on many levels but personally it doesn't shock me anymore as it's the same every window Guess what is ridiculous and shocking is that the Manure sold him for a pittance and are now buying him back at ransom prices
Crazy money, but together with their other summer additions + Maureen, they could well win the league this season imo.
It's not outside the realms of possibility Utd will be close I agree, good business City I really dunno right now, not done much business have they, certainly top4 though Leicester I dunno about either, losing key players is their business going to keep that team togetherness, interesting to watch what happens with them Chavs I think will be back in top4, signed Kante who will help them out and Bhatsuayi who I haven't got a clue about Spurs won't be were they were last season, not much business there yet Arsenal personally I hope they have a nightmare just cos they deserve it
