Liverpool and Arsenal are both crying out for a clinical 20-goal-a-season striker. Roberto Firmino top-scored in the Premier League for Liverpool this term with just 10, while Arsenal again relied on the unreliable Olivier Giroud, who failed to hit the magic no.20 for the fourth campaign in a row. According to reports in Portugal, both teams are now eyeing the same forward as a possible candidate to address their attacking shortcomings. That forward is 27-year-old Islam Slimani, who netted 27 times in 33 league games for Sporting Lisbon during a prolific 2015-16 campaign. Slimani also has a fine record at international level, with 23 goals in 43 senior outings for Algeria http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/med...d-arsenal-lodge-bids-for-african-goal-machine
Origi was prety good in his cameo yesterday. Miles better than Lukaku who was rubbish. I feel good about our striking options and would put the focus else where. Benteke only goes if we receive a big offer. Benteke scored a few good winning or equalizing goals late in matches last season and a player like him can till be relevant. Maybe not £32m relevant, but relevant.
True. Everyone who had a pop at goal for Belgium was woeful. So far all games in this tournament have been very close, no outright winner going into the last 5 mins or so. France and Spain only got winners near the 90 min mark. Germany and Italy only extended their leads to 2 goals with injury time counters. Every other game it's been 1 goal in it or a draw. Think that'll change the next round of fixtures, nerves have settled and teams going all out for it to guarantee 3rd or better.
I think you are right. belgium are on last chance saloon. they need a win now so have to really go at it. Anyone whos lost or anyone like england who wanted to win a group and only drew.. well.. thy must go all out too. I think it'll be interesting.
I'm sure his agent knows where he wants to move to and will negotiate accordingly. German players are infamously self centred and in love with bowman rule. He will be eying bayern so we must tie him down to a long term deal before we start making him the main man.
Napoli are willing to offer Gonzalo Higuain a new contract to deter interest from Liverpool. The Argentinian will be offered £110,000-per-week to stay in Serie A, rather than join the Reds. He enjoyed a brilliant 2015/16, converting 25% of his shots in the league. (Rai Sport, via talkSPORT) Liverpool will receive a payment of just €300,000 for Joao Teixeira’s move to Porto. The playmaker has moved to the Portuguese giants on a four-year contract, after failing to break into the Reds’ first-team on a consistent basis. His contract in England has expired, meaning Liverpool are entitled to the aforementioned compensation figure, according to FIFA legislation. (Liverpool Echo)
Not sure if I want a rich Arab taking over the club, sure they'd invest a lot of money into the club but it's not really the right way to do things nowadays, I guess it depends how badly we want success.
I agree. I'd happily replace the people above Klopp though (Ayre Gordon etc) and replace them with someone better.
It's the medium to long term outlook not short term where the mega money has to be considered. In any outlook local fans are forgotten I think. All the big clubs are doing this. If we look at Chelsea over 10 years... aside from idiotic managerial merry go round the stuff off pitch has been well done. At city they make decisions not based on roi but sometimes a few calls like that are needed. Fsg look only at roi and so we see oh maybe we will or he will do attitude. City have failed to build a team but bricks and mortar have been spectacular.
