The figures are objective. Those figures being used to described him as 'banging them in' or as 'not a one season wonder' is subjective. And you said you'd 'shown' that something subjective wasn't the case (him being a one season wonder). Nonsensical and arrogant to try and insinuate you'd proven an opinion.

It's objective that he has only had one season of scoring 20+ goals in the premier league. You've still not provided the dates of the two seasons for which Bent scored 20+ prem goals as you claimed earlier which I've twice asked for...

No it's not. It's wrong. Go and check your facts.

For the third time of telling you he scored 20+ for charlton in 2005 and 20+ for Sunderland in 2009, both teams were in the premier league at the time.

Nice re-phrasing of the argument. If you put your ego to one side and read back through the last few pages, you will see that I was speaking about goals in the Premier League/top division. Including their overall tallies, which also involve goals from cup competitions, does not count.

I can just tell you're one of those people that believe if you apologise when making a mistake, it's a sign of weakness. People like that are pathetic <ok>.

Using PISKIE wording I will also state that Messi scored 49 goals in World Cup 2014.




Nb. This includes goals in all competitions of the year that he played in the world cup 2014.

So cup competitions don't count now, and you're accusing me of re-phrasing the argument. <doh>

You specifically said that he only scored 20+ once whilst he was in the premier league and that championship seasons didn't count. The juxtaposition you made was the premier league vs championship, now you're trying to strike off goals he scored because they were in cup competitions even though he was playing in the premier league, because it doesn't suit your argument.

As for your opinion of me. Meh. You're wrong about that also.

Dumb argument. If a player scores 20+ goals in a domestic season then it's framed as total goals scored. If a player scores a certain number of goals in a tournament then it's framed as within the tournament. Otherwise it's total international goals.

I suspect you know this but your pedantry means you can't stop yourself making stupid comments <ok>
 
Piskie, YOU are the one who said he'd twice scored 20+ in the PL. YOU SAID IT. And now you accuse US of being pedants instead of just admitting you were wrong? Brunel is right, you just can't do it.

Jesus wept. I actually give up with you Piskie. If you're not going to recognise the errors in your judgement and your persistent shifting of the argument, there's really nothing left for me to say to you. You genuinely fail to recognise your own hypocrisy (and your own arguments) and it is bewildering.

This whole episode could have finished ages ago if you had just held your hands up and been like "You know what? I made a mistake. My bad." Instead you decided to long this whole situation out, when it was completely unnecessary.

Ridiculous.

I'm not wrong. He did score 20+ twice whilst playing for teams in the PL. I haven't once said that only league goals count, it was based on his total for the seasons.

The fact that Brunel then decided to chalk off the goals in all comps when I showed that he (and you) were wrong is not my problem <ok>

You are the one shifting the argument, because you got it wrong about Bent scoring 20+ more than once whilst he was playing in the PL. You made the juxtaposition between Premier League and Championship and tried to use that to say that he'd only had one 20+ season in the PL. When I showed that you were wrong, you then tried to chalk off his goals in all comps to suit your argument.

Worrying how little pull we are exhibiting that it is taking Vardy so long to decide. I mean I know he has good reasons to stay at Leicester and they have given him attractive reasons for staying BUT I can't believe we are just hanging around waiting for him to ignore multiple deadlines instead of demanding an answer. I mean it's hardly like we are battling a handful of the top clubs in the world for one of the most sought after players in the world

I don't read too much into it to be honest. I guess he just has to weigh up the pros and cons. I'm guessing he was looking forward to playing in the CL with Leicester, but he'll be playing in the CL with Arsenal too. I think ultimately he'll decide to join, otherwise it will probably be a decision that he regrets for the rest of his life, opportunities like this only come around once, especially at 29 years old.

<doh> It's like conversing with a brick wall. I may as well be. All you have demonstrated is your incapability to have a debate with someone that does not share your view and your inability to accept when you've made a mistake.

You're doing the equivalent of sticking fingers in your ears and singing 'la-la-la-la'. Is it any wonder people don't bother having a proper discussion with you anymore?

Anyway, this is my final post on the matter (unless you start stirring up more ****). People reading this thread can judge for themselves about who is in the wrong. I'm done with this topic.
