I kinda think this would be ideal.Apparently Ospina is gonna move to Fernebahce for £4M. If this means Cech is coming in, then perfect. I like Szczesny. Working with Cech could do him a lot of good.

I think we need to make sure we don't jump the gun a little. The article says that we're not close to agreeing a fee yet, so I have a feeling this is going to drag out for a while yet. There's no way in hell José Mourinho and Abramovich are going to want to make this easy for us.
Surprised they are even contemplating selling to you guys to be honest. Unless it's one big wum to make you spend ages on this deal to then pull the plug and make you have wasted a load of time.
Not like moaninho to be sentimental and let a player dictate where he goes if it's to a rival, if true, he must have some big respect to Cech.
I don't think Jose has a say in this, to be honest. It's up to Abramovich. My guess is that it's only because Cech has provided Chelsea with such a long period of loyalty and consistently good performances that they're willing to let him go wherever he wants. Obviously they would prefer him to go elsewhere but I think this transfer is going to be a once-off if it does materialise in the end.
Mourinho himself has said that Cech has earned the right to decide where he goes, he also said he would not sell him to a direct rival but that decision was down to Abramovich who also respects Cech`s wishes.
Maybe Jose doesn't see them as a direct rival![]()
Maybe. Given, however, that we have added the likes of Alexis Sanchez & Mesut Ozil to our side, and found an internal solution to our central defensive midfield issues in Coquelin, as well as winning two trophies in two consecutive seasons having gone a previous nine years without one, one would think that giving Cech to us would put us in a more prominent position be a 'direct rival', no?
A more prominent position, yes. In my opinion you still need a much better midfielder than Coquelin, a top centre half, Cech and a better centre-forward and that's before considering the deficiencies with the manager.
Don't get me wrong, Coquelin looks decent as a short term solution but can you really see him as part of the spine of a title-winning team?

I think you are looking at a rival as someone that can beat you, in the premier league a rival is someone who can beat as many (or more) other teams than you ie get more points![]()
