He's just announced he's leaving Chelsea and at 33 still has a couple of years left in him. For me he's still one of the best left backs in the world and I'd rate him higher than Gibbs (who I also rate). Considering Keiran's injury record would it be worth going for Cashley considering you'd only have to pay his (quite considerable no doubt) wages? What a left back pairing that'd be!

Monreal I think is alright but nothing special and not as good as either Cole/Gibbs so wouldn't be adverse to selling him or maybe keeping him as a utility back up for the left.

Nah, he used to be one of the best left backs in the world, but is currently being displaced by a right-footed players. He's well past his best and there is no point in us getting him. Personally I rate Gibbs higher than him (and Shaw), and Monreal is decent back-up for any top side.
 
Hmm, I'd argue that he's still right up there and Azpilcueta (spl?!) is only being used as one of Maureen's patented "move to a club and make a statement by dropping one of the best players" tactics. He seems to do it at every club he goes to and this time Cole took the brunt. Azpilcueta has done well in that role but I still think Cole is the superior player. Anyway, as I said it's a moot point but think someone is going to pick up a very decent player.

I agree. Paying £140k per week to a RB is ridiculous, especially to one that's only part-time!

It can't increase and I agree this signing wouldn't make much sense (Zabeletta is better too) but Barry and Lescott are out of contract this summer. Pretty sure a few others will be leaving as well.
 
Well they wouldn't have to with Bac so that's sorted right there. Milner (reputedly), Barry, Lescott, Richards (reputedly) and Yaya Toure. That last one is definite, you don't forget Yaya's birthday card <wah>

Only 4 apparently have to be homegrown in the 21 man squad. Even that's a struggle without Lescott, Barry and Rodwell.

Not really, they had nine this season, just just didn't use them.

Hart, Wright, Richards, Clichy, Milner and Sinclair are the others.

He was quality at CM at Villa. He would improve the central midfield at Man Utd, Spurs, Everton and maybe Liverpool too.

He's a **** winger.
