I love how people are giving up now too. End of the last window we weren't even given a chance at making Top 4 and yet here we are 1 point off City. But it's over in January. Title are won in January after all. We already made the press and some fans look stupid up until this point we can do so again.

As it had already been stated, City may be the favourites but to give up when we are only 1 point off is pitiful. I'll be honest, After not siging a striker in the summer I knew we wouldnt this month.

I don't think the club have, though it seems plenty of fans have in the last three days.

This brings up an interesting point. People spent ages complaining in the '... False Economy?' thread (not that you were one of them Bear) that Chelsea and City pay ridiculous fees and have inflated the transfer market by crazy proprtions; are those same people happy for Arsenal to do the same?

Its all about calculating the risk.

To do a City/Chelsea and regularly bring in players for inflated prices would not be sustainable for us.

However 1-2 when we are in a position to possibly win the league? (for the first time in 9 years) Then it's worth it.

It's funny Wenger loves to play exciting some might say tactically 'risky' football (high line etc..) but he's soo f**king conservative when it comes to transfers.

Ozil being the exception to the rule I suppose.

I personally haven't give up but I'm a lot less optimistic now. If Giroud gets injured then we are f**ked. Walcott is out for the season and Ransey is injured throughout all of February, an extremely pivotal month for us this season, which could potentially see us knocked out of two competitions and fall off the pace off of the title. I'm just being a realist. The lack of activity feels like a passive forfeit of the title race.

No Klose. We're not getting anyone else. Expect Kallstrom deal to be confirmed tonight or tomorrow. That's it. I can say that with some certainty.

I wouldnt go that far.

We HAVE afterall reached this position in the league with the current squad. (despite injuries to Podolski, Chamberlain, Sanogo, Carzorla and Gibbs)
We CAN replicate the form of the first half of the Season and therefore possibly win the league.

1-2 signings would have shown intent and reduced the risk of collapse though. But the title is still a real possibility.

Fair point but lets be honest, City were not firing on all cylinders at the start of the season. Now their away form has improved, simply replicating our form won't be enough. We have to beat the big boys and we struggled to do that thus far.

I doubt if any one has given up on the league. Manure fans have not given up on the league so why should we? I don't remember the last time we were in this position in January, we are usually struggling to hang on to 4th spot. Question is do we bring in reinforcements for the second half of the season, i.e. when trophies are actually won... The league as we know is a marathon not a sprint, the title is not won in January, we were top of the league for weeks, counts for nothing if we are not top at the end of the season, or we end the season emtpy handed again. We all accept our 1st 11 is as good as any, but injuries is what has always been our achilles heel, now we are having to play Gnabry in consecutive matches (we all know at that age it is difficult to find consistency), Ozil appeared out of form, but we cannot afford to rest him, no adequate backup for Giroud etc etc.

Fans are no fools, they know what we require for a long campaign and feel this is a chance to strengthen for that final push.

Sure, City currently look the best team and have a crazy amount of firepower ...BUT they could be peaking at the wrong time. If they have shakey run of form towards March - May it could all fall apart for them.

Meh, **** this ****. Can't wait to get back talking about what happens on the pitch. Looking forward to the Palace game.

And IF they do, can we take advantage with the lack of striking options we have? Again, I'm not whinging, im just stating the obvious. I can see games where City and Chelsea drop points and we fail to capitalise due to our lack of goals. It's already happened this season, I don't know why people expect it to change in the 2nd half.
