Well that's us conceding the title. I guess second place is a few steps above fighting for 4th place.

Wenger's not an idiot, he must know that City are likely going to win the title regardless of what happened in this window. In the summer we really need to see some action though, and not a deadline day trolley dash

It's precisely what he's not - he's a loan signing. I expect he's come in to provide cover, so I don't expect to see much of him at all after the next few months (barring further injuries).

I guessed that from Wenger's "get another body" comment, in his recent interview on Draxler and Ramsey's injury. It's disappointing that we didn't buy a player(s) that could make an impact, but now we will have to see if the team is good enough to take it to the end.

Yup, that is pretty much it in a nutshell. We have done really well to stay shoulder to shoulder with citeh, so far! We just have to carry on winning those class B and Class C games, and we should be ok for a top 4 finish.

This is the closest to the title that the club has been for a number of years. City aren't going to get weaker next season, Utd will improve, Liverpool are getting better, Chelsea are in their first season with Mourinho. The club needs a striker - I know that, the fans all know that, Wenger apparently doesn't.

The chance was there to at least push City, be competitive and then if you fail you say at least we gave it our best, addressed the problems with the squad, and tried to win.

This seems tantamount to throwing in the towel midway through the season.

I could be wrong but I'm sure the transfer window doesn't close until 11-00pm.Before people start contemplating suicide lets just wait and see what happens in the next 8 1/2 hours.

I cannot see any one on here contemplating suicide, people have very much accepted the inevitable. So tell me what do suppose will happen in the next 81/2 hours?

Yeah, let's just give up. Better to not try and then you can just blame it on not trying that actually making some sort of effort. Your philosophy is like Liverpool's... next year will be our year :steam:

All Wenger ever really does is deadline day trolley dashes. He offers below asking price, gets rejected then scrabbles around for players like Kallstrom on the deadline day wondering why no-one ever accepts his offers.

You guys really crack me up. Show a little class, all you seem to do is whine and whinge.

Even when we have not won the trophy for so long, I have still been amazed that we have done so well with so little money. After 8 years of getting into this financial position, we aren't going to piss it all away on one transfer window to win one title.

And just maybe, you guys don't know as much as you think you do, and the team might surprise you.

You're right. Our budget is just paltry compared to trophy winning teams like Swansea, Tottenham, Birmingham City, Wigan and Portsmouth.

I wasn't aware that the players you buy in a January transfer window were only allowed to contribute to your performance that season and then weren't allowed to play for you ever again. Heaven forbid they may contribute to us being good NEXT season too.

Why are they MORE likley? We are top of the league. All we need to do is emulate our performance during the first half of the Season.

For me 1-2 Top additions would put us in pole position for the league. If Wenger wanted to win above all else he would do it.

This is EXACTLY why we dont win trophies anymore, Our Boss is more concerned with the ethics of the transfer window than just biting the bullet and paying 'over the odds' for the players he needs.

Ferguson, Moureen or any other TOP boss are not concerned by these matters. If a player can improve the squad they buy.

As it had already been stated, City may be the favourites but to give up when we are only 1 point off is pitiful. I'll be honest, After not siging a striker in the summer I knew we wouldnt this month.

I swear this Toledo bloke is just here to wind folks up! I think most of us on here are pragmatic enough to understand and dare I say accept we will not be splashing out in this window. Our target at the beginning of the season was to qualify for the Champions League, we well on course for that....

This brings up an interesting point. People spent ages complaining in the '... False Economy?' thread (not that you were one of them Bear) that Chelsea and City pay ridiculous fees and have inflated the transfer market by crazy proprtions; are those same people happy for Arsenal to do the same?
