Frimpong gone, officially. He's signed for Barnsley - a HUGE step down for a once highly promising player. Genuinely disappointed to see him go, really thought he could be part of the British contingent (he was raised in UK though wants to play for Ghana) and part of the strong spine of the team for years to come.

Sadly, he only really has himself to blame for this. Unlucky with injuries yes, but his attention doesn't seem to have been on football for a long while. Wish him all the best.

I think the lack of activity as regards strengthening our squad, is an indication we would not be winning the Premiership. I think the club has given up on that dream. Do we need to bolster our squad to get into the champions league plancings? I think not, so why bother shell out big bucks..... I think the whole Draxler thing was a distraction, we needed a striker, doubt whether we would get any decent one at this late stage!

Källström? Really!

I am Swedish so I watch all the games ....and in my younger days I used to play against Källström. He is good but not Arsenal good!

He fights hard, will be disciplined and passes well (another left foot guy).

Don't understand this transfer....

Yet another promising youngster who never had the discipline to make it to the top.Posting "DENCH" on Twitter really isn't going to make you a top class footballer

I know Wenger said "We are trying to bring one body in because of Ramsey's setback," but bloody hell, this dude? Are we that hard up that we have to bid for some Spartak Moscow reject.

Kim Kallstrom update

"Kim Kallstrom is in London to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms ahead of his proposed loan move to Arsenal from Spartak Moscow. The Gunners are very unlikely to make any other signings before the window shuts."

Time to close this thread then, we are signing the mighty Kim Kallstrom and no one else!!!!!! Talk about an underwhelming January transfer window for us. Any point even announcing this **** on BBC?

Oh god and the torture continues.....

Hers's some stats on our "new" signing, old boy Kallstrom.

Current 13/14 season with Spartak - 10 played, 1 goal and 1 assist of which he was subbed 8 times

12/13 season - 20 played, 2 goals and 2 assists of which he was subbed 13 times.

This ones a keeper all right.....

It's hard to be excited by Källström, though let's face it a permanent signing isn't needed to cover a six week injury and a four match ban in arguably the club's strongest position. The Draxler business is disappointing but as we don't know what's actually gone on there I'm reluctant to parcel out blame. As a permanent striker signing is needed I'd have liked to have seen that this month but the chances are pretty much dead now I guess.

Here's hoping that a dull (even inadequate) transfer window doesn't hammer the confidence amongst the fans which, bizarrely, already seems to be on a shoogly peg.

It's precisely what he's not - he's a loan signing. I expect he's come in to provide cover, so I don't expect to see much of him at all after the next few months (barring further injuries).
