Yeah because those are going to be our only signings <doh>

Well if they are, then that's my argument, but if they're supplemented with actual quality then go ahead, sadly knowing Wenger and his ways, it's most likely that these players are the signings, the big quality players to strengthen us. That's TYPICAL Wenger.

Well they are obviously not going to be? You think after all that trouble we won't get a striker? We just offloaded our 4th choice CB leaving only Sagna, Kos, and Mert you honestly think we won't get another CB? Hell we might still get a winger

Ginter can be that 4th choice now, the replacement, he's the CB.

As for a striker, if we don't get one, Wenger will be content with the fact we have Giroud, and Podolski, both of whom are strikers, while Sanago is an addition, with Walcott being able to as well. Don't forget, we didn't get rid of Bendtner yet, so if he stays, he's a striker, so Wenger will say we have plenty of strikers.

As for wingers, Wenger may just decide to promote someone from the youth, or make a squad player like Chamberlain, more active now in the first team. Or he will just switch Cazorla out wide, and go with the midfield trio of Arteta, Ramsey, and Rosicky-Wilshere, which he was doing for most of the second half of last season.

This transfer window seems to just get worst, so we're going to sign Ginter? A 19 year old CB? Yes, because that's what Arsenal really needed.

So far we have signed an unproven French under-20 striker, and now another under-20 CB, Wenger's version of 'strengthening' the squad, yeah, those of you saying Ginter is a good signing, love to see your thoughts if say we had to rely on Ginter when going into a major game, say against your United's, or Barca's, great squad depth eh, having to rely on a 19 year old CB.

These signings do nothing to strengthen us, but only serve to keep the status quo of allowing the squad to just get the bare minimum of ending in the top 4, if anyone believes otherwise, then they're ****ing deluded.

You are both right and wrong here. I will try and explain why. Around this time last year we completed the signing of Giroud, who many cynics believed was our replacement to RVP and were complaining about him not being good enough. I personally though "great signing, he is much better than Chamakh and will be a good back up for RVP." However when RVP was sold and Giroud proved to be his replacement, he automatically became a poor signing, simply because he was a massive downgrade.

So in the case with Ginter, I have no problem with him being brought in whatsoever IF he is a replacement for Coquelin, and not a replacement for Song. There is nothing wrong with having talented youngsters at the club but they need an experienced professional to look up to ie Gustavo, Fellaini, Matuidi - these are the types of signings we need to be making if we want to show some INTENT.

I agree with you, so let me clarify, I have nothing against this signing, if Wenger still plans on adding experienced proven quality, if Wenger does that, I have no problem.

My complaint is that if Ginter, Perez etc are THE signings of the summer. And knowing Wenger, I don't think it's beyond him to make these players our signings and tell everybody job done, we signed 3 players, strengthened the squad with 'super quality youth'.

Agree with you completely and with Arsene I have learned to expect the worst and hope for the best.

Most transfers get done at the end of the window, so I still think we will do business and get the numbers in, I think that is not a doubt.

I said all along though that I thought Wenger would only get one or two first team players, and that they would be not quite what fans were crying out for. Having said that, I can't say we have a single fan that is qualified to manage Arsenal and I don't think collectively they know a lot more, so their "wisdom" in wanting something is questionable.

Wenger has proved in he past that with a decent amount of money, he can make signings outside the mainstream and win, so, as this is the first year for a while he has had decent money, I'm prepared to give him a shot at it (Not like I have any choice in the matter anyway).

I've been impressed at how well he has done with teams that were not (on paper) that good over the last 7/8 years, so I am not going to worry too much about what the team looks like. Experts have been saying that our team is mid-table quality for years and they seem to do better than they look like they are going to.

Decent amount of money to buy none mainstream players would require him to spend some actual money.

Sanago= Free

Ginter= 6 million

Erm, that's hardly making most of the available funds we now have, and sounds like the same old story with Wenger, buying on the cheap, or free if possible.

Btw, it's time to also stop living in the past, you speak of Wenger buying none mainstream players before and making them win things, yeah and when's the last time that happened? Wenger may have done that back in the day, and we're talking well over a decade now, currently, Wenger has failed in that regard.

The funny thing is, as things currently stand, we're going to be making a profit out of this summer transfer window! This was the window you expected us for the first time not to make a net profit, as we had big money to spend, and no stars to sell, but as things currently stand, lol, with the few players we have sold, and all the others taken off the wage bill, we're looking to gain profit.

I can already see it with Wenger, sure he was very proud to make a profit out of Arsenal when we didn't have much money, but now you can imagine how much more proud he will be with himself by saving $$$ and making $$$ while we have so much $$$ to spend, for him that's probably the ultimate goal. To be able to say 'see look how much money we have to spend, but we don't go mad like others, making a loss, and still make excellent financial results'.

For all that it's easy to be pleased with a multi-million pound signing, if players come in at any price I'm willing to reserve judgement until they prove useful or not.

We haven't even signed him yet, ;-), never know, Arsenal might balk at 6 million and demand 2.5 million.

He's too cheap to stop the boos.

You damn right about that, we want quality, not players who aren't deemed good enough for Milan and let off on a free, Flamini was at one time quality, 5 years ago, time to move on, thank you very much.

We have big money they tell us, big money buys you big quality, so let's see it happen.

I wasn't really being serious. My point still stands - if players come in I'm willing to wait before I fly upset about them. Players need to come in for sure though.
