Two examples of why Martinelli will never be good enough to start for this club. Holy ****, only really noticed that if he passed that first time to Gyokeres, he would have been in 1-on-1 with the keeper. Urgh.

Not sure how you can say he isnt good enough to start for us. He started plenty for us in 2022/23 and 2023/24 and was absolutely scintillating for us in 2022/23. We sat atop the lead 8 points clear, battering Liverpool at Anfield in euphoria that felt like I was actually buzzing ! Then Xhaka happened and it all began to fall apart with Liverpool pulling back to draw.

We played better football in those 2 seasons than now, we got record points and record goals in the 2023/24 season, so how on earth can you say Martinelli will never be good enough to start for us?

Blame the ****ty system not Martinelli.

Well yes, of course you could find examples of lots of players doing unimpressive things, so of course it's overly simplistic. But Martinelli does that sort of stuff all the time so those are two examples of many. He's not good enough of a dribbler OR creative enough to supply to be a starting player. But I also prefer Trossard overall, which is why I'd rather sell Martinelli as he'd generate more money for us.

You also can't say a post is dumb and then say that Martinelli is the ONLY reason we got to the CL final. That's even more dumb.
Name me some other players in Europe who got 18 g+a in 2000 minutes of football as a rotation player.
This list is small.

I think it's been a combo of the system and a drop in form for Martinelli

I hope he can get back to his best, and work on some of his decision making

Because he has the potential to be absolutely deadly. And he's still only 24

I still dont get where the drop in form narrative is coming from...
His form improved over 24/25.
He was used as a squad player this year and hardly played in the PL - very in and out.
Used more in the cup competitions.

13 G+A in 1300 minutes in the cup competitions says he was in excellent form.
PL , the rate was half - 5 G+A in 1000 minutes - but then he only started 11 PL games all season, with most of his time as a sub. No way you get into a rhythm like that.

Struggling think of a better squad option with that level of contribution in Europe.

As with all things it all depends on what version of Arteta turns up next season. If its the bitch-ass cowardly version be prepared for a season of butt clenching nervousness. If its a brave Arteta we could be in for a season of champagne football and league domination.

If he wins the league again , I am happy with whatever the manager decides to do.
He knows best on how we need to approach things to get the outcomes we want.

You better hope he doesn't get his arse handed to him by Iraola or Alonso!

Why?
My hopes are for us to win the league back to back.
If we don't then another team will be better and deserve it.

I feel that you and some others are so entrenched in your dislike of Arteta that he'd need to win the league every year playing football you approve of personally in order for you to even stop talking badly about him.

Said it before , I will say it again. The Arteta debate is over. He's proven all his doubters wrong and we now need to get behind him.

Reports in Italian media that Real Madrid have enquired about Riccardo Calafiori and have held preliminary talks with his representatives to understand his situation.

Would any of you sell? If so, for what price?

Every player has got a price, but no. He's quality and we need him

That said, if a £75m offer came in, then I think we'd sell

If we got offered £75m, I think we should absolutely sell.

He's a quality player, but his fitness hasn't always been reliable and that will always be a concern when it comes to him.

£75m would represent great value for money and, as good as he is, I don't think he's irreplaceable, especially with his injury concerns.

Always? Has it EVER been reliable?

Anything £50m+ we should sell and then get Maxi Araujo.

It has nothing to do with being entrenched, I am not a yo-yo unlike some, cough cough Jay, cough cough !

He has been **** and I want to see better, simple as that, winning the league does not excuse all the ****tiness, not least because all it will take is a semi competent team next season to overtake us if we continue with this bullcrap football.

Thats the overriding fear I have, thats why I keep stressing the point - it all depends on what version of Arteta turns up next season. Will our competitors be as **** as they were this season?! The last third of the season you had turned on Arteta Jay, be thankful that City fell off and dropped points. I refuse to mask Arteta's deficiencies of the past 2 seasons, I want him to address them!

I don't see him going anywhere. Prem league winner, gets plenty of games, has bought in to what Arteta is doing, won't go to an inferior league at this point.

£50m?! No way should we sell for £50m. We bought him for that price FFS.

His profile is better, he's shown his competence at LB/LCB, he's 24 years old and he has 3 years left on his deal. On top of that, he's a Premier League winner. £70m is the absolute minimum we should be entertaining.

Looks like this one is on the verge of happening then.

If we are willing to spend £10m-£15m on a 16-year old, we must be confident that he will be in and around the 1st team because there's no way we'd pay that price for a kid just to put him in the U21s.

If any club is mental enough to bid £50m for a player who can't play one game without getting injured then more fool them. His legs are made of digestives.

Again, he still has a unique profile and has proven his quality when he's on the pitch. You're exaggerating his unavailability slightly. He made 26 appearances in the league and started in 24 of those. So clearly Arteta trusts him enough to start him when he's there.

We should be expecting more than £50m for him, which would be breaking even. £70m or get lost should be the message.
