Valverde is apparently getting into massive fights with Tchouameni... now THAT is a midfielder I'd want next to Rice.

I'm starting to think we should keep Rice as a Six. Outside of maybe Rodri there's not really anyone on his level in that position.

Arteta new way of making the football at the emirates more attractive…

Starting to think?? If not a 6 then what? He isn't as good as an 8.
Na he's good - very good in fact but he's not really a goal threat. I would prefer someone who is going to chip in with a few goals and keep Rice as a 6. Lewis Skelly - might just be a ready made option for us.

Maybe just bring in an experienced head for next Season like Goretska. Sell Norgaard.

Rice is a water carrier like Dechamps.
That’s it.
That’s not an insult as it’s a vital role, but he’ll never be top class in any creative role.

Yeah I am more aligned with Jay on this, Rice's best performances for England, Arsenal and West Ham are those swashbuckling performances where he gets up and down and all over the pitch, covering every blade of grass. He has never stood out offensively/creatively, more as a box to box player who chips in with a few goals but nothing out of the norm.

In the creative roles we need players with vision AND the ability to retain possession under pressure. It can't be overstated how important it is to be able to hold off defenders and buy time for team mates to make runs, then spot the runs under pressure and play well weighted passes. This is why Odegaard is not good enough - he can't deal with pressure and either loses the ball or just lays it off safe to avoid being tackled. It means the creativity he has only comes to the fore when he has space, a rarity in the PL.
This is why players like Bernardo Silva at City are so good - the little **** is impossible to tackle.

Even Cherki is in that same mold, only passes when he is ready to pass, same with David Silva. We have Eze, Trossard and MLS as the closest players to them inasmuch as they only pass when they are ready to pass, but unfortunately for the 3 of them (moreso with Trossard and Eze admittedly) they dwell on the ball too long and lose it.

But I like that they are not scared of having the ball and dont treat it like a hot potato

It's not even about dwelling on the ball - that is actually GOOD if you are able to hold off defenders and retain possession. It opens things up.
The problem with Odegaard, Eze and Trossard is that none of them are difficult to dispossess. They rely on skill alone, not strength and they lose it way too often. Trossard especially does not know his limitations. He takes way too many risks in bad areas of the pitch. Eze the same. Odegaard at least knows his limitations and that he has to lay off a safe pass most of the time.

You need skill and strength. I have some hopes for MLS. He is very strong and technically good. If he can add to his game in terms of his vision and passing he could be a top player.

Yeah I agree with that, its an art that seems to be lost by lots of current players, how to shield the ball.

Gianfranco Zola, Pirlo and Busquets, some of the best at shielding the ball without being powerful that I have ever seen, bare technique!

Gordon nearing Bayern thank god, means we won’t be lumbered with him. Such a weird move for him. He’s not starting there so not sure what he thinks he’s doing moving there.

I mean I don't think Dias is that much better than him.. Obviously won't start on the right though.

Yes please - I actually think he's a top class player. Unfortunately, there's a whole host of clubs interested in him, so he'll likely cost a premium. But if we can get this done, what an unreal signing it'd be.
