Yeah except that's not the case.
How so? You must be the only person on earth that doesnt think our attack is blunt. Last season our top scorer scored a whopping 9 league goals, so far this season our leading goal scorer has 5 goals. Only Wolves have a top scorer with fewer goals than 5 !

Looks like we're signing a few youth players...

Fabrizio Romano confirming that Arsenal are interested in signing Sandro Tonali in the Summer and he will be having conversations with Newcastle about his future.

Any takers?

He I'd take him - quality player but has definitely underperformed at Newcastle for the most part.

Rumours circulating tonight that Arsenal are leading the race to sign Anthony Gordon for £75m.

Have to be honest - I think he's a good player, but £75m? That's very steep for a solid yet unspectacular Premier League player.

Is there really a huge difference in quality between Trossard/Martinelli and Gordon? Not for me.

Yeah I like him but he doesn't really strike me as any better than what we already have.

He's average at best.
Could not be more against this signing.
There is huge difference between Martinelli/Trossard and Gordon. Martinelli and Trossard are vastly better.

I mean, I wouldn't say they are 'vastly' better. I honestly think there's not that much in it between them all.

We've had this conversation before, but I just don't rate Martinelli (as a winger) the way you do and I am not opposed to seeing him leave. But if we're going to sell him, we need a proper upgrade. And Gordon isn't that.

I think Gordon can move up a level from where he is, he certainly jumped levels from how he was at Everton to Newcastle. As it stands he needs more end product to jump to the next level, I think he can.

Its a similar situation to Madueke although I think Gordon has more to his game than Madueke and is more of a threat. We have seen more from in form Trossard and Martinelli but lets be honest, neither have played that well this season. Trossard still has better numbers than both Martinelli and Gordon this season but he has been frustrating.

Im not against the Gordon signing, Gordon is far less head down than Martinelli and far less prone to run the ball out of play when he goes down the line, Im not totally convinced it would be a good purchase though.

We don't need to sign players that might be able to jump up a level.
Signings should improve on what we have immediately, which means there are not that many players to choose from. We're talking about shopping in the 'very best' aisle of the football market place. Not the b grade stock where Gordon lives.

Jay that's only true if you are buying players at or past their peak, most of the players we have bought in recent years are not at their peak, its fair to say that anyone under 27 is expected to continue to develop and improve. Look how many players we have in our squad 27 or under.

We don't need to buy developing players anymore - we already have them.
If we buy anyone it should be a player who will be ready.
We also have our won academy for young players coming through.

While I accept your argument I think it would be wrong to ignore emerging talent, not even clubs like Real Madrid do that. We have to look at the next big thing players too.
