Giver over. Madueke? He's two and half years older than Madueke. Two and half a years ago Semenyo was doing almost nothing for Bournemouth. Madueke was doing Semenyo current numbers at Chelsea at age 21/22. Remains to be seen what he does at Arsenal as he's been injured but he's hardly going to get worse.

And Trossard? At Semenyo's age Trossard was doing similar G/As at Brighton. And he's kept it up for years even at a bigger club with reduced game time.

Yeah I'm not having Semenyo at all really. Maybe if he was closer to 20. But he's not going to get any better at 25. Would much rather get someone like Barcola, Doue. It's got to be a proper upgrade on Martinelli and Trossard, not just another bit of filler. There aren't many out there who'd actually be attainable.

Semenyo will go to someone like Spurs or United. Bit of money, but not the very top teams.
What foolishness are you talking ?!!!

Semenyo has more goals and assists in the Prem this season than Saka, Martinelli and Trossard combined !! He has been the standout player at Bournemouth so far this season. Similar foolishness was said about Kudus and he has been the standout player for Spurs and he is only 2 GA behind the 3 Arsenal players I mentioned ! both Semenyo and Kudus would've improved us this season. I am cool with what we have but not having any silly talk. Spurs have had some cracking players over the years, lets not pretend that they haven't.

Martinelli has also contributed more goals and assists based on actual time on the pitch THIS season too than Semenyo.
The January transfer window brings out the absolute worst of the fan bases around the league bigging up players we don't need.
It's a circus - it's why players like that Ukrainian pubber Mudryk went for £85m!
I can't believe the clubs actually get sucked into it.
Jay you talk about stat padding - we ALL see Martinelli, good for running down blind alleys, running the ball out of play, keeping his head down and passing the ball backwards. Not so good at running at and beating players anymore. I like the kid, great story and all that, but I have to be honest and realistic. We have had a solid 2 seasons of him mostly frustrating the life out of us and rare moments of brilliance.

Every time I see Martinelli I am unconvinced he will do anything of note when he has the ball. Every time I see Semenyo with the ball I think something will happen. The goal and assist stats alone don't tell the full picture. If we compare their 2024/25 seasons Semenyo was successful with over half of his dribbles (54.8%) compared to Martinelli (35.5%). Semenyo has a higher percentage of ground duels won and significantly more aerial duels won. He just seems like a more solid player on current form. Now, an in form Martinelli wipes the floor with Semenyo and its not even close, problem is, the last time Martinelli was properly in form was 2 seasons ago.

Martinelli was in form THIS season before his injury - earning the clubs player of the month award in Sep.

We don't ALL see.
No idea what you are watching, TBH.
Just think certain players get a social media noisy crew on their backs and it gets too often regurgitated.
It's best to take a starting point that the accounts on social media have zero clue about football - not a scoobies - and are simply driving clicks.

Martinelli is fine - and started the season in great form.
We need him back.

Haven't seen him play, but I've seen some describe him as Pedri-lite and some describe him as Reijnders but with better defensive nous.

Either way, that's high praise indeed and if people believe he's got that potential, I'm all for it.

Both of these players are very highly rated in South American scouting circles. Could be quite a significant coup for us. Obviously August 2027 is still a little while away, though, but still.

About time another club apart stopped Chelsea hoovering up every single player from South America who look vaguely promising.

This is what Edu should have been doing when he was here. But yes, hopefully, we start doing this more now because we need to be scouting for the best talent across the continents. And like you said, to prevent Chelsea from stockpiling all the good prospects.

Who thinks a deal to bring Osimhen in to Arsenal with Gyokeres going the other way is a possibility - or desirable?
I think it would give us a very good chance of winning the league.
Osimhen has only just turned 27 (today).

Not sure why Galatasaray would do this lol.

Osimhen is the better player, but there's clearly some issue with either him or his reprenstatives. There's no way a player of his calibre should be in the Turkish league at the age of 27. There are suggestions online that he's on €360k a week over there, which apparently other European clubs were reluctant to give him. I don't see why or how that would change now.

Because Osimhen probably doesn't wanna be there.

He's a quality player - but rumours are he is a bit of a nightmare to deal with which is the reason no big clubs have come in for him

Being Linked to Leon Goretska as his contract at Bayern is almost up.

6'2 great on the ball - he fits Artetas profile very well, Usually plays as an 8 but can play as a 6.

He would be the perfect backup for Declan Rice.

He's 31 next month and we've already got experienced heads in the team with Merino and Norgaard. He's also reportedly on €250k a week at Bayern. As this would be his last big contract, he'll want lucrative terms.
I don't see us doing this.

I feel like if we're to get someone, it's going to be someone that's an upcoming prospect/talent. We've been linked with a lot of young players to future proof our team in certain positions the last few days - Rodrigo Mendoza, Bahoya, Yildiz, Güler, Bouaddi, Jaquet, Bartesaghi - these are all names to potentially keep an eye on.

Normally I would agree with this logic.. but we are on the verge of winning the major trophies again.
Would he be an upgrade on Merino (and Norgaard) in midfield ... yes I think so. He's one of the best CM's in Europe.
I like our squad and don't think we NEED anyone. But there's a few areas we can still improve and Arteta may well do it.

I like Yildiz and we've been linked to him for ages... the only thing is for me we have soo many options out wide right now.
As it is Eze, Martinelli, Madueki and Nwaneri are not getting enough game time.

I do think 8 and CF are the most likely areas we strengthen.

It'll be a balance of a business decision with tangible value add and weighing up the short-term/medium-term/long-term benefits.

In my opinion, if the club have the chance to spend £17m on 20-year old Elche central midfielder Rodrigo Mendoza on low wages (who has high potential) or paying a nominal fee for 31-year old Leon Goretzska but giving him c. £250k a week (either stagnating or on the decline), I think the club will opt for the former - especially as Rodrigo Mendoza has purportedly been someone we've been monitoring for the past year.

He is quality, always rated him at Bayern, a definite upgrade on Merino and Norgaard and an upgrade on Zubimendi too.

Hmm, is he? Bayern fans online don't seem to rate him and can't wait for him to be sold. Which normally isn't a good sign.

Think it's best we steer clear. His best days are behind him.
