Selling Sanchez and buying a World class replacement is the best thing to do from a managerial and business perspective. IF they cant get him to sign a new deal. Otherwise we will have to send big just to get a similar quality replacement - taking the exactly where it was before. It seems like a ludicrous strategy.

Agree it's of our own making that this situation has arised.
Totally disagree that selling Sanchez is the best thing to do, quite the opposite in fact.

Honestly I don't know how from a footballing or business standpoint letting a World Class player leave on a free is the best thing for the Club.

Ultimately if we are going to buy Top class players we need money to do so.
Look how much players like Dembele, Mbappe, Morata, Lukaku are going for in the modern market. How much do you think a World Class Sanchez replacement will cost the Club?

I would love Sanchez to sign on but if he doesn't want to stay I cant see how keeping him does anything but 'save face' for Wenger(and damage Arsenal financially.)

The thing is that Sanchez is in the last year of his contract so we're not going to be able to command top dollar for him. We'd probably be looking at £40m reasonably.

With Sanchez in the team though, we are more than likely to recoup that money through him helping us to qualify for the CL, as well as extra revenue from sponsorship, shirt sales etc. Sanchez is our talisman. He's the player that fronts up Arsenal on merchandise, adverts for the premier league, Sky TV etc.

Even with one more year of Sanchez at Arsenal, it makes more financial sense to keep him. And from a footballing perspective, it's a no brainier.

Ramsey is already having some injury and the season has not started! We NEED another Central midfield.

Think he could be a great signing - World Class ability thats for sure.
 
Why the hell are we not in for William Carvalho ?!

Apparently West Ham are in talks to sign him for £30m. That is a ****ing snip in today's transfer market. We need a DM and he is available. Coquelin and Elneny are good squad players, but not of the quality we need in there.

We should go in and offer £35m and the chance to play for Arsenal. But will Wenger do it ?

If theres one thing Ive learned, its that whenever a perfect-fit player becomes available, we will never be in for him.

Ive lost track of the amount of time we could have and should have gone for XYZ, only for him to go to another club and improve them immensely.

Question is why are only West Ham interested? All the big clubs have taken a long hard look at this guy and have decided against buying him for whatever reason, for me we need a Cazorla replacement next to Xhaka. Carvalho is a big lump, don't like the idea of him next to Xhaka, would be way too immobile. Jean Michael Seri seems to be the ideal player who is in the market.

I've generally backed Wenger. But this is one of his weaknesses, constantly missing out on what seem like obvious signings.

We've missed out on Kante, Wanyama and now Carvalho. All within our budget and who all would massively improve our midfield.

I would see Carvalho as an upgrade on Coquelin or Elneny.

Although that said Elneny has been playing well for us.

A few problems with that because we have way too many squad players already, and getting rid of them is proving to be a hard task this summer, the amount of crap we need to shift is unreal, until we get rid, we can't buy.

Carvalho is good but he's inconsistent. For such a big guy he's not particularly 'physical' as a player.
I dont think any of the top Clubs are fully convinced by him.

I cant help but think the Arsenal link exists purely because he looks like Patrick Vieira.
 
On the DM front alot of Clubs (including Juve) are chasing Nzonzi (fomerly of Stoke). The guy has turned into a quiality DM over the years. Would be worth a punt.
 
carvalho has been plenty physical when i have seen him.

The only thing i would say about him is that he has the ozil look about him in that he doesn't look like he's trying most of the time

Hav'nt watched him playing for Sporting but for Portugle he barely seems to put a tackle in. Good on the ball though.
