More reports on Wanyama today after we apparently scouted him in the Champions League. Most likely summer targets are Jovetic and Wanyama. I would be happy with that. Would also prefer a new center back, and Cavani, but that's a dream.
Hell Yes. Wanyama looks an amazing talent, quick hardworking, great first touch and strong as an ox. I would still like to see another CF brought in. Jovetic could be a good choice.
Wanyama was getting slated by certain folks last night (not on here). I thought he looked solid and mobile, very capable. I also liked the look of the Celtic LB, thought they were the two stand-out players really. The question is, is there a future for Frimpong? He's been loaned out to Fulham, and is apparently out of contract in summer. He's been very unfortunate with injuries, but has shown promise, and is absolutely Arsenal to the core. Along with the other Brits (though he's elected to play for Ghana), I'd love to see him do well and sign a new contract. Is Wanyama needed if Frimpong signs a new deal? It would mean in a season or two the Team could be made up of: GK Jenks CB CB Gibbs Frimpong Ramsey Theo Wilshere Ox ST That's an awesome amount of home-grown talent.
I thought he was pretty good, but with the hype that surrounds him, he won't be cheap. And spending that amount on a player that has only proved his worth in the SPL and a few CL games is risky.
Talkshite are saying that Barca are after £17 million for Vila, no way that is gonna happen. Feel the Wanyama talk is being used to disguise who we are really looking at.
I think Capoue would be a very astute purchase - and I'd offer Frimpong a new deal too. We are so light on defensive midfielders, we need one who can walk straight into the team and one as back up.
Have to completely disagree with you there. Unless Frimpong proves his worth and impresses in his loan spell at Fulham, the club should definitely not be looking to give him a new contract. In fact, this loan spell at Fulham might be Frimpong's last chance to impress Wenger.
We'll see, I know you don't really rate him. I do, I think he's shown a lot of promise, but he's been hampered by injuries. He will need to step it up to make it at Arsenal, I'm hoping he can.
He has impressed me with one or two performances (Liverpool and Manchester City), but that's about it. Injuries have affected him badly, but I also think the fame got to his head and that has also stalled his development. At first his antics was funny, but it got tedious very quickly. But I suppose, if he does not make it as a footballer, he always has a life as a Z list celebrity to fall back on.
He's definitely a mouthy gobshite, and he just needs to get his head down and get on with his game. But I think he's got the raw ingredients to be a really good combative midfielder. He needs to get some decent performances under his belt though as his last loan deal was basically a waste of time. I hope Fulham start to give him some games.
Torygraph saying we have £70 millin to spend, I like one of the comments saying that he will buy 70 players with that!! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/9876493/Arsenal-back-Arsene-Wenger-with-70m-to-spend-in-summer-as-fans-anger-mounts-after-FA-Cup-exit.html
Yeah, we have had 70 million left since the Summer. It was available in January. We must the the only Club where the board has to come out and publically announced the fact there is money available for transfers. Wenger refuses to spend Essentially our manager wants to win trophies at the top level.. 1. With young players at the core of the team 2. Without signing any big names or spending alot of money. 3. With a socialist 'fair' pay structure 4. While playing an attacking style of football that requires very little in the way of tactical training. While Alex Ferguson or Jose Mourinho. JUST WANT TO WIN. It seems to me that Wenger has set himself an impossible task.
In the wake of yesterdays press conference, the focus has been turned onto what may happen should we not go thorugh, good old Dani Alves has mused on what player he would like to see come to the Nou Camp. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/9878484/Dani-Alves-urges-Barcelona-to-make-move-for-Arsenals-Jack-Wilshere.html I will avoid the talk of metro and mirror as they are even worse than talkshite.
Ohh man, he cant have Barca in his DNA as well?? Surely there's an immunisation against that kind of thing.
That article made me laugh. It casts speculation on Wilshere saying despite him signing a contract to 2018 his future will be under speculation if we lose to Bayern, and then goes on to say that Messi signing a new contract until 2018 means Barca will be keeping the player for a long time. Do these journalists even re-read there articles before posting them? Wilshere isn't going anywhere anytime soon, same for the rest of our British players. We have the core of our team tied down to contracts bar Sagna. We are finally going to have a summer where we can focus on improvements rather than replacements.
You can take it two ways. Personally i'll take it in him complementing a top emerging talent, saying Wilshere can reach Barca standards. The best complement you can make in my opinion.
Exactly, I think what Alves said is a huge complement to Wilshere. This guy has comes up against the best players in the world and for him to say that Wilshere is the one player he would pick to join Barca is some praise.
