Don't give up on Diaby, he will get there with his injuries in the end, a bit like RVP. But we do need cover in there whilst he's out
You seem to be getting a little personal regarding Nani. I'm not a big fan of the man but he is one of the best midfielders in the Premiership. If we were to lose Walcott then i would take Nani any day of the week. In fact, having Nani on the right would balance our team better than having Walcott there. The main reason being is Walcott is NOT a winger, can not dribble or go past players like Nani can and cannot pass the ball as well as he can. Walcott is quality but playing as a second striker, off center like he was when RVP was playing. If we manage to get Huntelaar, then we would be a more potent force. Saying that, Nani coming to us is not likely, unless Fergie decides to sell to us (not his over-the-hill, crap players) and we manage to sort out Nani's wages.
Team of: Carzola-----Huntelaar-----Nani ------------------------------ ------------Wilshere---------- ----Rosicky---------Arteta---- ------------------------------ Gibbs--Verm-----Mertz--Sagna Tasty.
My sources have indicated to me that a deal from Monsieur Thierry Henry is being brokered as we speak, as is a move for Huntelaar. The latter is not close yet though as Schalke don't want to sell.
That would be a great team - pace, drive, creativity. Good on the counter but able to retain possession too.
To be honest, we could just get away with just getting Nani in and still be a more improved unit. With Carzola on the left and Nani on the right, we would get a lot of services to Podolski, Giroud and Walcott (if he's still here...). Also if we manage to get Henry in, i would get him to do some minor coaching/mentoring of our forwards. In my opinion, this has been greatly missed at our club. Just having him around would lift the players and get them to up their game.
If you look at the Coaching setup of Ajax, most of their coaches are former players who won loads & have that mentality. I desperately wanted something of that kind at Arsenal - having Bould there is great, but having Bergy or Henry with the Strikers, Pires with the Wingers, Dixon with the Fullbacks, Vieira with the MF & Bould with the CBs would be amazing. They can impart that temperament & they'd command respect.
Spot on. This is whats missing from the mentality of the players. They seem to lack belief. Though a few of the new breed seem to have a stronger mentality - Wilshere, Chesney, Frimpong. But unless we win something very soon, they too will regress. That's why i'm a big advocate of us winning anything. Sometimes you need to start small, before you can move onto bigger things....
--------------------Chesney------------------ Sagna------Merts-------Vermaelen-----Gibbs --------------------M'Vila--------------------- --------Carzorla-----------Arteta------------ ------------------Wilshere-------------------- ---------Huntelaar------Podolski------------
That's a tasty lineup. It's an alternative formation and i agree, we should go for a more combatitive style DM covering the back 4. M'Villa would also be able to retain ball possession and keep it moving with Carzola, Arteta and Wilshere. But if i was going for a 4-4-2 formation, i would play Giroud upfront with either, Walcott, Podolski or Huntelaar playing off him. Walcott in particular would benefit from this.
Yeah agreed, would love to see M'Vila at Arsenal. We lack physicality at times and it would be nice to have a genuine quality holding player in the squad.
Yet more nonsense. Zaha is the wide player we are going to try and buy in the January transfer window.
Although I hate his attitude, I wouldn't be totally against a Nani transfer if it happened. I just don't want him to be a replacement for Theo. I'm sick of the constant ins and outs once one of our players hits form. Can't we keep a core of players and build a team?!
