This playing too many games argument really pisses me off.Not that many years ago most clubs would only play 16/17 players in a season.Players would play 42 league games, the league and FA cup games and possibly european games. It wasn't unknown for players to play 60 games and they didn't complain of being tired.
Thanks, I see you're right. Inconsequential for my general point though. I don't care if M'Vila can become equally well-rounded because we don't need him as an AM. His DM skills are as good as Toure's IMO, as is his passing precision.
My point is that he's close enough already, and at 22 he still stands to improve. The world beater comment is entirely subjective and depends on what you understand it to mean anyway. The important point is I think he's good enough for Arsenal because he would improve our team and give us many more options. A midfield with M'Vila and Arteta in it could be useful against teams like Chelsea and Barca. We are stuck with one option right now because trying to get some defensive steel by bringing in Coquelin for Wilshere or Cazorla would just make us worse. If Diaby can stay fit, I'd like to see him alongside Arteta. Move Wilshere to AM, and Cazorla to the right. Even if he stays fit we need more options.
Players have come a long way since then. They are pure athletes now that have to think about physical conditioning at all times to get the best out of themselves. The game requires a lot more now physically than it did all those years ago.
If they are pure athletes now then they should have better stamina. Maybe they should revert back to a diet and fitness regime of Beer, ***s and pies ?
So we get Capoue then. Or knowing Wenger, we get nobody. Or Biglia, which would be worse than nobody.
I remember reading that Spurs and Wigan were interested in him but decided against buying him 2 years ago. He was definitely known.
