Merson was like the Messi of his day, quick footed could, dribble past players and had a lethal shot on him. Also he loved playing and scoring goals for Arsenal. I think he liked Fish n Chips, Bingo and Beer too.
 
Michy Batshuayi is linking himself with us again. 20 years old Standard Liege striker. Big, strong and had an amazing season so he definitely looks a prospect. He's said he wants to come to England and Arsenal is his favorite club. Still, I don't like it when players whore themselves out.

We are, as ever, being linked with everybody. This will no doubt go on all thru the summer kicking off all kinds of debates about how we are/are not spending wisely/badly. I get a bit bored with the lazy journalists in this country making up stories to fill up newspapers or blogs - not just about Arsenal, but any club. There is a lot of twaddle from people who call themselves 'football correspondents' but frequently prove how little they know about the game.

I agree though in this instance it's the player himself saying he wants to play for us. So do I in fairness but I don't have his reputation!

I saw that too against Man City in 86. I also remember seeing Merson as a gangly teenager sitting on the desk in the backroom of the old shop that used to be between the ticket office and the Clock end entrance on Avenell Rd, back when he was still an apprentice with the club. Mers was one of the most gifted strikers I'd seen up until Bergkamp and Henry came along.

We need a striker, maybe we should sign him up again <whistle>

Sadly Merson was yet another player who's offield problems blighted his career.He certainly had the talent to be one of the best.I remember when the PL started having free Saturdays going to see him play for Middlesboro at Tranmere Rovers.He was head and shoulders above any other player on the pitch talent wise
 
Josip Drmic is being linked with Arsenal. He plays for Nurnberg and can play up front or on either wing. Only 21 years old and he scored this on the weekend.

Di Maria, cavani and one of the benders, keep verm and Sagna.

That'd probably cost us over a hundred million though :p

But we'd be competing for all the trophies going!
