Only Wenger, Gazidis, the board know if we can realistically afford to spend £50m on one player.

It's not a risk i would like us to take personally, especially on a player I don't think would stick around for more than a couple of seasons

You certainly won't make a profit on him if you pay £50m, that's not normally Arsenal's style <ok>

Do you think Suarez is good value at £50m though ? I'd say it's way overpriced, but we may need to pay it to get him

I don't know how to put it. He is not worth £50M, in fact I think our £40M is still above his worth.

But if he stays with us for 4 or 5 years, takes us to another level, wins us trophies, then he will be a bargain. One thing you can say about Suarez is that we are not just paying for a top striker, we are paying so the world will sit up and take notice that Arsenal mean business again. People view us as an ambitionless selling club (including many of our own fans). Signing Suarez will change that all. It's not just about the player, it is about the intent.

So even though I think Suarez is worth nowhere near £50M, if that is what we have to pay, cough it up. He may not be worth £50M, but to us he could be priceless.

Exactly, it's a watershed moment for this current board and Wenger to really move us to the next level and getting a player like Suarez would really show that we mean business. But getting this deal done is going to be so complicated, and with Real Madrid waiting in the wings, I fear it's almost impossible.

I am liking this new sense of positivity amongst the fans. Strange that it involves Suarez (whoda thunk it 6 months ago?) but whatever the reason, I'll take it. :)

Suarez is worth what Arsenal are willing to pay and what Liverpool are willing to accept

There are rumors that Napoli have agreed a €32M fee with Porto for Jackson Martinez. Probably the best 'available' striker out there should we miss out on Suarez. Don't know why they want him though after signing Higuain.

There are also strong rumors in Brazil that Porto will announce the signing of Bernard by the end of the week.

Probably the best move for his career, normally seems to be a good stepping stone for South Americans <ok>

There were also strong rumours in Brazil that we were signing him.It wouldn't susprise me if he went to Porto given the closeness of Brazil & Portugal by that I mean language and culture not distance

Makes sense if we're getting Suarez. 50 million is a huge chunk of out transfer kitty and we still need some money for a DM.

We have £100M+ to spend, we could afford Suarez (£50M), Bernard (£22M), Cesar (£2M) and still have money to get somebody like Fellaini or Gustavo.

If we don't get Suarez (and we won't) then we're not getting anyone.

Wenger out.

Wenger would have seventeen heart attacks in three seconds <laugh>

I agree, but where else would we look ?

Germany, Stephan Kiessling is a good prospect. Soldado also an option if no-one else has snapped him up. Rumours we are talking to Osvaldo, whom I know nothing about. There are a few options.
