West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce is wanting to spend big on three strikers and two midfielders in order to push for a top six place.
United are in talks with Arsenal over a loan deal for midfielder Francis Coquelin with a view to a full time deal in the summer.
The second midfielder is set to be Marseille player Mathieu Valbuena. The 28 year old has apparently been begging to play in the Premier League and Upton Park is set to be his destination.
The first of the strikers is set to be Youssef El-Arabi. The 25 year old former Caen player currently plays in Spain for Granada.
Allardyce is also keen on a surprise move for Bristol Rovers forward David Clarkson. The former Motherwell and Bristol City attacker has always been admired by 'Big Sam' and feels his energy could add something to United.
The third and final forward set to join is another lower league player. Scunthorpe forward Mike Grella has also been tracked by Allardyce for a long time and could seal a 18 month contract with United.

Not for us but still worth reading <laugh>

alex mcleish is set to be appointed as a new director of football at bristol city. he will assist derek mcinnis and tony docherty in the managing of the club and transfer targets.

Done a lot of thinking on the Del situation and I do wonder if a DOF could just help him at the moment to teach him some tricks, it does work but equally it ****s up unless you have a good relationship look at Dougie Freedman and Lennie Lawrence.

But unless Del has a special trust in McLeish I would not want the big Eck here.

IF and it's a big IF that SL and the board will want to bring in a DOF, then the possibility is that Derek McInnes may prefer to work with someone he has known/worked with during his career as a player and/or his time in management. It is probable that the two know each other but that in itself does not mean they like or trust each other and that will certainly be the main criteria for DMc agreeing to work with a DOF.
Also can we afford a DOF of this stature and salary?

We are set to sign Chris Wood and I see his record for you wasnt too impressive. Just wondering what you lot thought of the lad

A lot of are fans didn't like him, but I did a good target man big and strong in the challenge, he is still very young I thought he didn't get a lot of starts with us but if your getting him well done, he will only get better <ok>

Many thought we were going to sign Bikey after his end of season stint..... we didn't as I was told by a person in the club he wanted £30,000+ per week!
