This based on any source or just off the top of your head? Despite signing Rui Patricio as their no 1, doesn't mean they'd be willing to lose Ruddy as their backup - it's not as if wages are an issue for them.

Seems like we're struggling to find a good goalkeeper for a reasonable fee, but that's only likely to become more difficult as we approach the end of the transfer window. As much as it may sting, it's probably reasonable damage control to suck it up and be willing to pay that bit more (within reason) to get a suitable player in as goalkeeper is a particularly important position. Maybe this Zack Steffen from Columbus Crew is the one to pursue.

Regarding Tim Krul, I find it strange how when Newcastle were relegated he was seemingly too big for the Championship and move back to Holland on loan, where he largely underwhelmed & then to Brighton where again he was backup. Time will tell but he could be past his best and maybe a good thing we didn't get him as he still has the reputation to command large wages.

that's their manager for you think he knows it all, if he wants him £5m at least and if he plays 10 games another 500k .. 15 games another 500k more than 15 games 200k a game ............. if he doesn't play him at least 30 times then another £4 m

see Sam Baldock signs for Reading! did he get to score for Brighton last season?
 
Time is ticking on , the goalkeeper situation needs to be addressed, if we fail to get one in before the window closes we are in the brown stuff imo.
Listening to Lee last night didn’t really give much away, he’s obviously aware how dire the situation is , but said it could be an opportunity for Max to step up. With all due respect Max may be a good prospect but we need another keeper of first team standard , especially with Frankie being out injured for so long, Lee did say the intention is maybe to get 2 , does that mean the rumours about Frankie leaving are true ? .
Along with doubts over Joe these are the two issues that worry me. Maybe letting Mags go was a bit premature
 
The errors, or superb deal making, will come to the fore in the first 4 weeks of the upcoming campaign. On an overall basis I think our new players (as yet) do not impress me as much as the players who have moved on to pastures new. Again the next month will tell the true story and let's just hope it's better than we think - but you just never know.

Agree mostly mike , I have a good feeling about Mo though , can’t put my finger on why , haven’t even seen him play yet , just a feeling in my water , though could just be old age creeping up .
 
Window shuts a week Wednesday on the 9th August but loans can be sorted up to 31st August.
Keepers will become available before then, and Prem clubs will no doubt want to loan out their keepers not in their immediate plans before the 31st.

As to players signed not impressing, I suggest seeing them before writing them off. I’ve seen a preseason game in Spain and Webster really impressed me. But my standout player in that game and reading others whose seen more is Elliasson, he looks really good at the moment.

Eliasson looked good in the Bournemouth highlights - but I admit that’s all I e seen (from my bedroom in Swindon)

....and I admit I've only seen the highlights, read agency reports and of course read ROD but all of these say he is in sparkling form (Eliasson of course), I'm looking forward to the start of the season with fresh enthusiasm.
 
I know most of you are far removed from the MSL but lately I have noticed that there are some very young players playing in Canada at the moment. One of the Vancouver Whitecaps have just been grabbed by Bayern Munich for future move when he turns eighteen. Last night I watched the end of the Toronto FC match and a guy by the name of Devinco? looked really sharp when on the ball and has that I'll chase everything and anything attitude that we need so desperately. I must confess I also have a sneaky feeling about Eisa.

Have to say I can’t wait for Saturday, really looking forward to seeing our new players , there are a couple that excite me , looking forward to seeing how some of the younger ones progress , just excited about it in general.
