Reid turned down Derby last week, and I'm 90% certain this interest is true. Inside scoop for ya :emoticon-0105-wink:. Whether he goes or not is another story.

12 months ago we would have laughed, and laughed hard if someone said we'd be getting £10million for Reid!! It's good business as he is a LONG way from a proven goalscorer.

You haven't got 10 mill for him yet - there be plenty more detail in that reported conjecture fee.

As for him being a long way from a proven goalscorer is concerned, you've got some front saying that now it appears he's going - sour grapes to me. <ok>

Got to agree with this.

I'd say on the face of it that he seems quite an un-Warnock style forward though - would maybe indicate that he's planning on a big man/little man front pairing maybe, or having him playing behind....

That was twelve months ago. What those months has emphasised is how Reid can be used. Its not just goals, a long way from it, the player is an endurance machine.

That skill set and a none to scruffy technical ability to myself would be very attractive to Neil Warnock and fit the football.

Calm down RR - you reckon Reid's a one season wonder anyway, so if we get a big fee with over a month to go to spend it on a replacement, maybe reserve the hysterics until then at least?

I still think Reid could be a one season wonder 10 mill good business, Matt Taylor defiantly a better all round striker.

Just think the crown jewels are being sold and if quality don't replace them then it is going to be a long hard season.

Ashton Gate could very volatile within a couple of months.

Talk about a man of contradictions. In one sentence you say Taylor is better than in the next you are saying we need to replace Reid because of a lack of quality!

But but but you said when Reid goes Taylor will get his chance and he’s better. So 10 mil for Reid and a ready made replacement how can we be?
Reid was always going , good luck to him , personally wouldn’t begrudge him the opportunity to play at the highest level, even if it’s with Cardiff.

Exactly I’ll take 10 million for him from anyone even Rovers!!!!

.
Look at his record before last season Sparky . It’s not sour grapes , I rate him highly, but 1 season doesn’t make him a proven scorer , if he was he would be going for much more than £10m , & there’d be a lot more suitors.

Everything will depend on how we spend the money received in this window , invested wisely happy days , badly and things could turn nasty , fingers crossed it will be the former
It does seem to be part of the plan at City to sign up and comers and move them on if the price is right.

It's sound logic from the business side - we're seeing more and more examples of clubs who are feeling the pinch by spending more than they bring in, in the hope that they cash in on promotion.

It's very difficult to balance that against moving towards building a squad able to compete at the top level though and it's here where fans can and will criticise. City will need to pick their moment to unlock their shackles and say 'we're going for it now' - in losing a handful of first teamers, largely out of their control, this season probably isn't the time for it, but you can't stay in that state of stasis forever when there are success hungry fans in the stands.

The good thing is Cardiff have shown their hand, they want him, we have got him, it's all down to negotiation, good luck to Bobby he is a diamond.

I maybe wrong Ashton, but wasn't he played in a different role before last season?

Maybe that was the case before the weekend, but if he's having a medical today, the deal is done - whatever that might be.

Let's look on the bright side. If Bobby goes for £10m, bearing in mind he has only a year left on his deal, and we then get Jack Marriott who's in a similar mould and 2 years younger for £6m, I think that's pretty decent business.

I'm really disappointed in this but the club have done nothing really wrong here imo, I'm not sure what else they're supposed to do. Flinty has been wanting to go for a while and Reid either had to sign a new deal or be sold.
