@AshtonRed - Ashton, you haven't answered my query above. Genuine question - was it not his first season as an out and out frontline attacker? I thought he was played mainly in a midfield role. If so, that would explain the change in his scoring tally.
Yep it was his first season has a striker and he was excellent. Saying that 9-10 million for a bloke with a year left on his contract and the potential to be a one season wonder I'm happy with deal. However he will be new to The Premier League so they may not suss out how to play him this season although you will need to get the ball to him first
Thanks for that. The fee will be what it will be, but anything in that area for a player entering his last year in contract is decent business. That's unless your club thought it was worth a gamble that keeping him would make the difference to your end of season finish. Could be regarded either as cashing in or copping out depending on your point of view and ambition. As to the actual figure (and format under which it will be paid), these things are rarely as clear as the media woud have you believe. It was supposed to be £4M for Smithies in the press but uit turns out to be £3M with some add ons. The same could be the case for Bobby.
Fair point Rob, just a bit unsettling whilst it’s happening , no matter how inevitable it is , these players have been the main stay for a while now , on the whole they’ve been a part of our journey from bottom of league 1 to at one point last season 2nd in the championship, of course we are going to feel emotional when they leave .
I think the heat is getting to City fans the meltdown over the sale of two players is ridiculous. Its not like they are world beaters and we are getting good money. Flint isn't even our best defender and Reid has had one decent season and I'm not convinced he is our best attacker. Diedhiou albeit a different type of player has a better strike rate. We can put a decent Championship team out without these players and that's before we get in any newbies. People should really chill out and at least give it to the start of the season and see where we are then
Absolutely right , I did say I rate him , not knocking him or Cardiff , just pointing out he doesn’t have a goal scoring record , I’m not saying he won’t carry on next season in a similar fashion , he’s a local lad & I hope he does carry on in a similar fashion for his sake . My point was we don’t know .
Honestly , my gut feeling is it wasn’t a one off season , It will be interesting to see how he copes with the step up to the PL , & I wish him well. Shame he gone to your lot though
it makes sense for the lad, a pay rise, a great new shiny blue club with a great fan base..........and he can stay living in Bristol 2 tend his turnips.......jobs a good un
Good bit of business IMO for Reid..9Mil + 1 add on......I dare to say, again IMO, he's a good player but not prem quality..we will see!
I hope so IMO he will be good buy for you. Yes it’s only this season he’s scored well in, but it’s only this season he’s been played in this position. Like Cliftonville said he’s got abundance of stamina and will hopefully continue to do well. Don’t like the fact it’s you lot he’s going to but that’s his choice but will keep an eye on his progress as I’ve always liked him and not just this past season. Anyway I’m being to nice, so **** off pig face
If he's got a big engine he'll do for Colin. Is he right or left footed? We tend to play with a front 3 and need cover / a starter on the right of the 3 to compete with Mendez laing. If he can fill that role and challenge zohore he'll provide flexibility and cover for us. Anyway, just ****ing off. Oink oink.
I think what he’s trying to say is given a season whilst being fully fit RR believes Taylor will score more goals and therefore be worth more than Bobby as he’s more of a natural striker, an interesting theory , I hope he is right .
Wouldn’t know about turnips dude , live in Newport me. Blue shiny club now are you , I get confused thought you were red ?
I don't want in anyway to devalue Bobby, he is a great bloke, a brilliant sport and good luck to him and his future, do well at Cardiff Bobby for yourself and your new team, stand tall.
