My point was, if they're that good and it feels right then pay the money. Get them in, settled and move on. Pfaffing about with £100k or increases is wasting time. If they are the players that will take us back to the Orem then do it.
Problem is Khan's PR has been to say 'Sorry we got it wrong but we have got it right this time', problem is Khan has said it 3 times now, and it's beginning to wear thin. I for one hope Symons is the solution, but again so far I'm not convinced. I agree the ideal pre-season is to get your main transfers in early so they can bed in for the start of the season, and not have the team disrupted during the early part of the season. On the positive side Crainey, Pringle O'Hara and Richards are all in pre season bedding in.
Been told there is a rumor from The People that we have asked about Gayle from Palace on Loan? Watching the game yesterday saw Frazier Campbell on their bench and I would thought that Palace would let him out on loan before Gayle
I'd be very happy if we got Gayle, I think he's a very talented player and has done well in the Championship before. Now he has 2 years of Premier League experience under his belt, he'd be a good player to have in the squad. Palace could be easy to deal with here, having already signed Bamford and now look like getting Wickham, Gayle could be falling down the pecking order so a loan could be a good option for him and Palace. Weren't we originally interested in signing him before his move to Palace? I have something in my mind that we put in a bid for him at Peterborough, could be totally wrong with that though.
I would be delighted with Gayle, pace direct proven at this level, the only negative is with Dembele considering whether to sign a new contract or not signing another striker may make up his mind to leave
Gayle has a face you would like to slap, sorry just a personal view. But if he came in a scored 20 goals over the season I guess I could learn to love him. I do recall he gave our center backs the run around a season or two ago, perhaps that's where the slap idea manifested itself. A quick and agile player but who would we drop out, I like our attacking choices already, particularly if we can encourage the Greek to stay. He would score more goals and is unlikely to be muscled out by any center half in the Championship.
Norwegian papers are saying that we interested in 26yr old Finnish player Sakari Mattila. please log in to view this image He’s a 6’ 2” midfielder, with a few goals to his name (8 last season), and currently playing for Aalesunds FK in Norway. I'd be delighted if we sign Gayle. He'd give us a different option with his pace to get in behind the defence. If we get him on loan, a Right Winger, Center Back and Defensive Midfielder by the end of the transfer window I'd be delighted.
It appears we are about to sign Guthrie on loan, I have no problem with that but surely Symonds must see there is a priority in getting in a quality CH, and a FB these are needed asap to allow them to bed in with the team. And who will be going : Betts, Dembele ,and eventually Hyndman ? the last 2 through lack of opportunity I see another Roberts scenario in the making.
Rosc, I know what you're saying. It's a difficult balancing act. Keeping everyone happy is a thankless task. There will be fall out for sure. I'm of the belief that they will stay, there will be opportunities but would you want players with proven ability and get us back to the PL rather than stay where we are in the hope that the young ones prove themselves. They will be able to slot in to the team when required, it's a long season. PR was a bit of an enigma. He was 16/17 and lightweight, it would have been difficult for him to do well last season with a run of games, I think he would have been found out and then his confidence would have been shot. If he goes on to do well at Man City then Fulham can be proud of developing him to get to the stage where a move like the one he got. Personally, I think he's just there to make up the home grown numbers. We defo need a quality CH and RB.
He's brought in Richards so there's not going to be another RB. As everyone says we do need an experienced CB who can lead and organise the back four. However, a defensive midfielder is also a high priority and Guthrie is not the answer - on any terms. If Gayle comes in on loan, as is seemingly more and more likely, I think it's Mattt Smith who'll make way. Kit just doesn't appear to see him fitting in with the preferred tippy-tappy style of play. Which would leave us lightweight and titchy up front. Not a combination that consistently wins Championship games.
Guthrie is signing for Blackburn, I think Rosc possibly meant Gayle. I'd love to see Dembele get an extended run if Kit won't play Smith. In my opinion he's the closest thing we've had to Saha since Saha.
Ah, righty ho FI. And agree about Dembele but fear the young man is very disillusioned with how things seem to be panning out at the moment.
I don't know what it is or if it's some sort of tax break, but for quiet a few seasons we seem to get players transferred into the club that don't amount to much or play hardly any games. Chihi, Stoor, Elrich, Teymourin, Kallio, Runstrom, and many more.
Can't figure out where Matilla plays? Anyone happen to follow Finnish football? He could be a DM, says he plays CM and CB. Strange signing otherwise - we've got quite a few creative players now.
Kit said today that any deal for Kevin McDonald was dead in the water. Happier news elsewhere however, with strong stories that we have made yet another bid for Lewis Dunk.
