The links to Reece James, Man Utd's young left back are still doing the rounds, apparently Forest and Huddersfield want him on loan whereas we are trying to sign him permanently! Apparently he impressed for Huddersfield last season on loan but I don't really remember him when we played each other. Also think Brightons game tonight will tell us slit about Dunk if he misses a second friendly in a row I believe all the rumours are true.
Can't say I know anything about this player, only Huddersfield player I noted to be any good was Conor Coady and he has gone to Wolves. The Dunk rumor does seem to resurface all the time. Can't really say I noticed Dunk in the games against us, so not sure what the fuss is about and didn't have him down as anything to take notice off in the transfer market. But lets hope they sort the LB CB areas out soon.
Dunk is definately going somewhere, two friendliest in a row and not even in the squad, it's just a question of where he is going and when?
Three reports to night say that Fulham have made an offer of between 4 and 4.2 mil for Dunk, no response as yet from Brighton
It's being reported that Fulham have won the race for Evertons young left back Luke Garbutt... Hope this is true we desperately need to get a centre back and left back in and I wanted at least one by the end of this week. Also if we are going to loan a left back instead of buying one and the reported £8 million up front for Roberts is worth just paying the extra million that would probably get Dunk and pay the £5 million.
I'm also anxious to get a new Centre Back in sooner rather than later but I can't help but feel we could do a lot better than Dunk for £5 million. There's no point in over paying for players just because we got money from the Roberts deal.
I realise over paying for players is not something you want to do often, buts it's not just the fact we have the Roberts money it's lots of factors, if a Garbutt comes in on loan we have pretty much strengthened every position needed other than one, we are running at a profit and there is only two weeks to go before the season starts and we desperately need to buy one before Cardiff, I think there are times when slightly over paying is justified.
Dunk 5mil ?. if so ok with me, but that should be our absolute maximum. We could probably get Tarkowski from Brentford for about 2mil. Splash some serious cash on a quality full back.
If we do end up signing Garbutt, Kit needs to be confident he can play 46 games for us. We stand very little chance of signing him permanently if he does well, so this is not a 'development' loan. If we think he's a good quality starter... then it's a good signing that frees up money for a CB.
I'm interested in that Botteghin lad from Groningen. He seems to be a big tall commanding centre back. Fee would be somewhere between 1-2 million apparently.
Looks like we are getting into a situation where even if we get players in now, the old match fitness for the beginning of the season excuse will come out. I suspect we will get the normal merry go round at the last minute with agents touting their players when their first choice clubs let them down.
How much did Coleman cost us back in the day? I think it was over £2m and that 1997 and we were Div 2! Lets get the boys in and start building.
And who took most of it away when he left, except the bloody statue! I see no lack of ambition from our chairman so far.
Why does he need a stepping stone, the guy is loaded to the hilt. He has invested a great deal so far, the stadium is to be improved next summer, we have a good looking team with others being bid on, a club and business structure and like it or not a manager everyone wanted plus no massive debt or flirting with the fair play rubbish. We are in danger of loosing some of our Fulhamish ways and beginning to look serious. COYW
I've seen nothing in Khan's judgement over the last few seasons to help me think we have been going in the right direction. I still don't understand why he bought the club. And every time he speaks it comes across to me as PR talk, tell them what they want to hear.
