why we paying 1 million to loan a player anyway, is that a standard amount? seems a lot to me for a short loan
surely we should be investing money like that into purchasing young players of our own, i know are trying to buy him now but wasnt at the time of the loan.

It's the same as spunking dumb money on so many ****ing players. We all laugh and say Acun loves to win a transfer window but it's such a gross waste of money that could be better spent. Someone said but imagine what the total cost of Sinik could have been spent on. What was it - maybe 6-7m all up including wages? Imagine that invested into the training ground or Academy?

probably naivitey on my part but i always thought a benfit of a big club loaning out their players was they got first team experience, and off the clubs wage bill for a bit.
i knew loan fees existed but always assumed they were minimal, like 150k, i had no idea they went into the millions.
seems mental to me, but most of modern football does so nothing new there

You’re probably right. Villa probably gave us more leeway than we deserved by not reporting us to the EFL sooner. Apparently, it was over three months overdue. Can definitely see him trying to argue that the loan fee should be included in the £3.5 million transfer fee.

He must think honouring contracts is him doing other people a favour rather than following the law.

They sold their women's team to themselves so they were fine in the end.

Also people keep saying this but the cash receipt of the Barry money has zero to do with PSR. They would already have booked the loan income, whether they had the cash or not.

The odd thing is, if you're short of cash, the first thing you'd expect to go is things like free holidays. It also begs the question, why spend all that money on installing safe standing, there was no clamour for it and no financial benefit, so it seems a fairly large expenditure that was easy to bin?

It's the same as my confusion around us playing and triggering the signing of Puerta. If we were this close to the edge surely just bin him to the reserves, play Vaughn or someone like that and don't force yourself to pay 3m or whatever.

It's not that cheeky, we got no value from the first loan and we're allegedly offering a massive sell-on percentage on the permanent, I'd certainly have posed the question.

It's an obvious business negotiation. I'm told Acun pushed his luck and someone didn't like it. As people within the club are saying it should be resolved quickly.

Coaching staff having a pint in the Hilton don't seem too concerned either.

I’m still unsure if he’s just that delusional that he thinks he can not stick to deadlines or fulfil the club’s obligations because it can all be sorted with a conversation and he can charm his way out of trouble, or he really is that narcissistic and arrogant that he thinks he’s not obligated to honour contracts and he’s doing people a favour when he does hold up his side of the deal. Maybe this is a Prem, EFL issue that needs addressing. Someone like Chelsea sign a player and give them a 6/7 year contract at 16/17 for £10 million. They spread that cost over the term of the contract then loan them for a fee (like Barry £1 million) out and expect other clubs to make them footballers and money whilst paying their wages too, Maybe clubs in the Premiership should be restricted to offering 3 year contracts to those still considered academy ( I appreciate Barry was not) and more much more important limiting them to loaning say 6 players in any season. That would stop the soaking up of talent that never see a football pitch.

Or they're just looking at the evidence. This isn't just about the Barry fee. As reported by everyone covering this there are concerns over late payments to other suppliers also, both locally and nationally.

My business has been almost entirely with Turkey for the past six years and every Turkish company I deal with has a fairly fluid relationship with deadlines.
