I wasn't responding to your post as such Geo,more as a general appraisal of the situation.

I've no idea what happens now with Puerta et al but that's not unusual because to be brutally honest,I have no idea what way Illicali conducts his business? He seems to like the idea of carrying out confusing/complicated deals and buying to sell at a profit.

It looks to have blew up in his face on this occasion?

Puerta(for me anyway) should've been a permanent deal,an investment in the future,a Hull City player for 3 seasons.

Not a means of making a fast buck to fill his aircraft's fuel tank for another galavant.

The whole thing is a shambles but I can't see any legal argument from the players point of view

Maybe not legally as they are getting paid, and everyone of us on here would love to be paid while not doing our job. In just think it’s slightly different for a footballer and unfair as it’s non of their doing.

You're absolutely right. If Puerta(for example) has got his eye on a move somewhere or someone has their eye on him, what happens?

Is he just stuck in limbo through no fault of his own?

It just doesn't make any sense. I guess there is interest in Puerta. We seemed to be happy to offload at a profit. Let him go to, let's say Sheff Utd. They are happy, we are happy, the player is happy and we get much-needed money which we can use to pay off bills. Everyone's a winner.

I understand there must be very good reasons they are taking such a tough stance. It just seems that this is just going to make all future deals murkier, ie we are getting players for nowt when they are currently under contract and you wonder about dodgy cash payments to players and owners. Just get this appeal sorted ASAP ffs!

As long as it’s a decent offer, we flog him.

So it's safe to assume there's been no offer, which seems odd?

It’s been reported that there’s interest, but presumably everyone is trying to take advantage of our situation.

We’ll be in a much stronger position if we can get the sanction reduced to one window.

Why do people think we'll be able to sell Puerta for a profit?

We paid a good chunk for him, and whilst he showed some real promise, 1 goal contribution in 30 games for an attacking midfielder is very poor. I just can't see anybody putting £4m+ on the table for him and that's without our financial situation/inability to register him.

I'll be honest, reading between the lines when we activated our option to buy him,I assumed we'd had a bid(maybe some sort of verbal agreement),we'd make a profit and that's the only reason we'd made a move? Prior to that we weren't using him in many games and it looked as if we weren't going to trigger it and we'd return him at the end of the season?

I can't see any other reason to buy him when apparently he doesn't want to be here...We could have another Giles situation on our hands here(Another colossal **** up)!!!

The jury is out on Giles surely? He's looked great in pre season and could still yet be a success.

Feels to me that he's yet to have a manager who uses him properly, which is hardly his fault.

Pretty sure it wasn't an option, it was an obligation to buy if he reached a certain amount of appearances, Selès chose to play him, presumably because we needed him, so once the appearance clause had been activated we were obliged

Yes,it was triggered after a certain amount of appearances,I knew that and we as a Club engineered that.

But the point I'm making is we WEREN'T playing him, which caused widespread comment on here, and the activation occurred in late April? At one point last season we looked as if we had no intention of buying him and I firmly believe we'd had some sort of verbal bid for him and that's why we did trigger it.

And as I illuded to given our perilous position it may just have been Sellès wanting him in the line up

We await to be convinced by Gilesey. Any manager who can get a tune out of Gilo will deserve a lot of credit. It’s gonna take a while for supporters to start really backing The Gilester anarl.

Personally speaking I think if he gets a decent little run in the team and the boo boys lay off him,he'll turn out a decent proposition.

    I fully agree.

Feels like fans make their mind up on players so quickly:

Giles wants out and is rubbish.
Kamara hates it here and doesn't try.
    Joseph and Burstow are useless.
    Etc. Etc.

All these lads are on a clean slate for me under the new manager.

The quality is clear to see with Giles, he has it. For whatever reason he’s just been bang out of form, a step behind what’s happening, a few silly mistakes. The way some people talk about him he’d struggle to get a gig in non league, he just needs to find his confidence again IMO and we also really need for that to happen. Maybe the situation here this season will help be a catalyst to get him to kick on, and there’s a lot less pressure on him now.

Sometimes styles of manager suit certain players, maybe, just maybe, Serj is the type of manager that gets Giles firing, so far from what I've seen it seems the players he has certainly seem to enjoy his leadership.
