Booooo:

DONE DEAL

Posted at 23:29
Southampton have signed defender Toby Alderweireld on loan from Atletico Madrid. A Champ Man legend back in his day. 20s all over the screen.

Still thought we may have sneaked this one in ourselves. Ah well, serves me right for having hope.

Royston Drenthe signs for Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Reading. Wow - this guy was at Real Madrid 2 years ago. That's quite a step down.

Ryder getting all ****y about hba arrival at hull. Pointing out he was smiling as if there was something nefarious in it. What does the fat ****** expect him to do? Bare his arse and projectile **** on the waiting hull fans?

Fair dues to him giving high fives out the car window. He got his dream move after all. He loves Hull, the city, the club, and, of course, the fans. Obviously.

Bruce is seemingly using a scattergun approach to transfers again... At a price.

What price? Our deals over the last couple of weeks have been to sell Long and Boyd for a total of £15 Million and to buy Dawson £3 Million, Diame £3.5 Million and Hernandez £10 Million (or thereabouts). An overall net outlay of £1.5 Million. Ramirez and HBA are loan deals so all in all our net spending hasn't been that much.

I think Hull have done outstandingly in the window <ok>

Just because in the overall context of our window we've been inept again, or rather adept in standing still at best again, doesn't mean other clubs are run as badly.

I agree that Hull have done great and good on them. I would suspect they have a stronger, more balanced squad than us now and with them out the Europa they'll likely finish higher.

But it's the same for the Swansea's and Southampton's etc. Leaving us for dust in the ambition stakes and Pardew did warn us we "can't compete" with this like anymore!

If Ben Arfa is cut a lot of slack by Bruce and he puts an arm around him, lets him do what he's best at, then he'll be worth any hassles.
What I would say is he'll be under less pressure and scrutiny than he was at NUFC, because if we're honest overall he flattered to deceive under the glare of SJP. We also didn't have the team to carry him.

He seemed to love everything about the "goldfish bowl" until he got onto the football pitch!

Good luck to him though and hopefully drawing a line under the feud with Pardew has lifted a cloud until the silver-haired git walks the plank...

Don't listen to them.

We've got a 50/50 split on here as to how to rate him. I know Bruce is a better manager than Pardew, and you've signed a good player, congrats. Hope he does well <ok>

^^ This. I for one cannot wait to see how HBA reacts to a manager who wants him in the team, and being played in his favoured position - i'm assuming here of course that the plastic Geordie isn't as stupid as pardew to expect him to play out of position/track back and defend etc.

Good luck to the lad. Hopefully by the time his loan period comes to an end, Pardew will be long gone and we can welcome him back with open arms.

His face looks a bit fat mind...or maybe that's just the facial hair creating an optical illusion !

What is his favoured position, behind the strikers or on the wing?

Most definitely behind the strikers. Pardew liked to play him out on the right wing, probably cos he's a clueless **** and thinks that he's best off there cos he's left footed so he can cut inside and let rip.

Yes he's cost us a few goals by losing possession but that's cos he's been played out of position, whereas had he been in the middle of the park in the hole behind our midfield and striker(s) that offers a degree of protection and less likely to cause damage at the other end of the pitch.

Gutted he's been farmed out if I'm honest.

I'm sure Brucey will get the best out of Benni again. Good luck to the lad. At least he can't play against us. Well, not while he's only on loan anyway.

Exactly.
He's a decent man manger is Brucie. He may even play Hatem his 'song'.
As we found out there will be no middle ground with Benni... he will either play an absolute blinder..... or be lazy as ****...... a problem I wish we still had.

If yesterday hadn't happened I'd have still maintained we had a good window.
We needed a striker and CB and sold a number 10 and a CB so by my reckoning that's a 4 player drift on what we needed.
Don't worry though lads... our balance sheet will look good now.. that's the main thing...
