Well we always sign somebody on the deadline and if you believe all the reports we are making offers left right centre. Have had a go for Drogba yet? <laugh>
 
Well for £3m and being snatched from under the noses of the Chavs I'd expect him to provide his own passes, score the odd Ricky V-type goals, grow to 6ft in a week and learn how to head a ball into a net. Not too much to ask is it?

We need to sign a world class forward or we'll be left behind. We MUST requalify for the Champs league this year or the current top 4 will dissapear into the distance.
We have to make this season count. attract the top class players.
Wages aren't a big issue as we'll just offer a HUGE signing on fee and then pay them our usual top end rate.
Not sure what to do about the defence but I think our midfield is too lightweight without Hudd.

I have spent most of today in a really ****e mood so I'm going to bed in a majo huff that my missus just doesn't understand!!!!

We will see tomorrow (today) Papa. The departure of Keane is a signal that we are looking. Agree he had to go he was contributing nothing.
 
Papa - The way I understand it, its not just signing on fees. Any player coming into the UK expects the club to overpay the wages to make up for the 50% tax! Our fabled wage structure just doesn't work in those circumstances/

I hope we sign someone, looks as if Levy is getting desperate now, and trying for everyone.

Dont know whether his usual negotiation tactics are going to work this year, as now clubs know we need someone.

Its difficult now. We've reached that ceiling in our squad that means to improve it will take some VERY special players. We've bought lots of players of similar (good) ability and it gave us a great squad.

We now need to make that leap up in class (don't think there are any more VDV deals as we've shown our hand there!) and I have absolutely no idea who that should be or how the hell we're going to pay for it:confused:
 
Surely we've amassed something like £20million for the CL so far? Hence the *rumours* of 3+ deals at £30m+?

I don't think the transfer fees are a major problem, its how do we

Afford the wages.
Fit the wages into our wage structure.
Not piss of our current top earners.
Avoid a wage rise spiral which is something we've done very well so far.
