"Fabio Borini, 23, arrived at Anfield when Brendan Rodgers took the job in 2012, as he paid £10m to lure Borini back to England from Roma having started his career at Chelsea. The duo worked together at Stamford Bridge and at Swansea, and after Borini had impressed in Serie A, it seemed like a great move for all parties.
However, his first season on Merseyside was something of a disaster. Just two goals in 20 appearances in an injury hit campaign limited Borini's impact, and he was duly loaned out to Sunderland for the duration of last season, where he bounced back with ten goals in 40 games for the Black Cats, playing a key role in their late survival charge.
The arrival of Markovic, Balotelli and Lambert has now made it difficult for Borini to play a role for the Reds this season. Sunderland had a £14m bid accepted for Borini almost two months ago but the Italian wasn't keen on leaving Anfield permanently, preferring to try and fight for his place.
Now QPR have also had a £10m bid accepted for the forward, but again there's a hold up. This time it's over Borini's wage demands, with the player once again reluctant to sign a permanent deal with another club. He is allegedly asking for a huge contract in order to tempt him into leaving Merseyside, which is putting QPR off a deal as they look to bring in a replacement for Loic Remy."
