James Olley (from London Evening Standard): If true tell him to do one. 58k is ridiculous let alone 90k!
An almost 32 yr old, experienced goal scorer, though prone to injury, currently injured versus a nimble, somewhat lightweight 23 yr old goal scorer. Perhaps there is room for both of them in our squad? We certainly need some goals. No harm in having a bit of depth with some attacking options on our bench as other teams like Man City consistently do.
If we can get both, then superb. If only one, I would much rather Defoe. A proven goal scorer at the highest level over a number of years. Only injured until September.
We've got to put the shackles on Grifter before dozens of them parachute in here and run amok. He brought all the Swans and Leicester wums down on top of us last week too. Sound chap, Grift, but when he cuts loose from here he takes on another personality!
I didn't notice any Leicester wums on here last week Swords! Got any quotes? The swans certainly aren't my doing either, I haven't been on their board at all this season. Point taken though...abandoning the Sunderland thread!
Trouble is, with the deadline approaching and with our lack of strikers, Borini and his agent are playing with an increasingly strong hand
Only messing mate. You can go over there, pull your cacks down and sh*t all over them for all I care Carry on!
Just a gander at the SAFC Borini thread. It looks like there were just a few of them that were somewhat angry to the point of abuse. Worth mentioning that violence and PROFANITY is the last bastion of the ignorant. A lot of them are gutted though.
Sky have us at 7/2 to sign Defoe looks like its going to be Borini or no one? Leicester 8/11 to sign Defoe
19:28 Harry Redknapp tells Sky Sports News HQ that Sandro is a "fantastic player" with a medical currently ongoing, and the club are "in talks with their people" when asked about the possibility of signing Fabio Borini.
Crazy IMO - not young - going to get more injuries - asking for huge wages for a 32 year old - not played in the Prem for a year. I think he would be another Zamora - on loan.. with a pay as you play contract..great - 90k a week - no thanks
See a few rumbles on twitter of fans saying the Diarra deal might be back on? I'm guessing the hardest part of getting deals done is always the personal terms, clubs just have to say yes or no. If Diarra had agreed to join and it was just Moscow dicking about, then I'm sure that would be easy to sort, either he is their player or not, we make a bid or not? Fingers crossed it is back on cause it's always nice signing players who want to come and play for you.
It was a season ticket. Have a look at twatter, it's posted several times. please log in to view this image
The whole day is people on the phone (or FaceTime / Skype now) staring at each other seeing who blinks first - no one on twitter really knows anything - the agents are the only winners in the end. This used to not be big day when I was a kid... more TV time spent on this than on the FA Cup final day - which is a shame - all bout the $$ - God do I sound old!
"Fabio Borini, 23, arrived at Anfield when Brendan Rodgers took the job in 2012, as he paid £10m to lure Borini back to England from Roma having started his career at Chelsea. The duo worked together at Stamford Bridge and at Swansea, and after Borini had impressed in Serie A, it seemed like a great move for all parties. However, his first season on Merseyside was something of a disaster. Just two goals in 20 appearances in an injury hit campaign limited Borini's impact, and he was duly loaned out to Sunderland for the duration of last season, where he bounced back with ten goals in 40 games for the Black Cats, playing a key role in their late survival charge. The arrival of Markovic, Balotelli and Lambert has now made it difficult for Borini to play a role for the Reds this season. Sunderland had a £14m bid accepted for Borini almost two months ago but the Italian wasn't keen on leaving Anfield permanently, preferring to try and fight for his place. Now QPR have also had a £10m bid accepted for the forward, but again there's a hold up. This time it's over Borini's wage demands, with the player once again reluctant to sign a permanent deal with another club. He is allegedly asking for a huge contract in order to tempt him into leaving Merseyside, which is putting QPR off a deal as they look to bring in a replacement for Loic Remy." Source - HITC Sport
Seems Borini is doing everything he can to stall the deal with ridiculous wage demands, if this goes tits-up we'll be f*cked. Are we the only club that seems to bollox every window up?...
