Typically our higher profile signings don't work out for us anyways, so I'm not too bothered, if they aren't "world class."

I feel your point there, but our last two games we've controlled the game extremely well, but created very little. That is why Kagawa should be playing, and if Ozil is actually for sale, we should be throwing money at Madrid. We desperately need help creating chances.

Agreed. Ozil is an immense talent and I cannot understand that we are not looking to acquire him though in saying that, I wonder is he looking to live in London area.

This is true, but then Ozil, Kagawa and Rooney would all tend to occupy the space behind RVP. We could easily play with those three, like Chelsea do with Mata, Hazard and Oscar, but would still need a more creative or dynamic influence in central midfield, and it would be harder to adapt between playing the three central players and the wingers (Zaha, Nani, Valencia and Young).

So imo, despite the quality of Ozil, a proper CM is more important to our game.

Ok so CM names being bandied about;

Ozil, Fellaini, De Rossi and Hererra.

Perm any two from four for me, hate to sound desperate or anything.
Three would be even better after that ****e yesterday!

We need someone to take on more defensive duties to let Carrick be the link between the back to our forwards. Cleverly is a tidy player, but he's not going to change a game for us. We need someone to play alongside Carrick to give him a bit more freedom.

Could you imagine a front 4 of:

RVP
Kagawa Rooney Ozil.

Then have mata on the bench as a sub <whistle>

Swap Kagawa for Giggs :)

With Carrick and Fellaini behind them?

Lacks a bit of width mate.

Cleverly isn't good enough, simple as that. We need Ozil AND Di Rossi in my opinion. Would happily not have Fellaini if that were to happen.

How would we get more width with Di Rossi and Carrick behind those four?

That was my point - Ozil mainly plays as a number 10 in that space between attack and midfield, so either we lose one of Kagawa and Rooney or we play without much width when all three play together.

That's why I'd prefer a proper CM like Herrera who can sit alongside Carrick and / or Fellaini, allowing us to keep our wide players. Tho' I suppose we could always alternate between narrow and wide attackers depending on the game.

Depends really.

The players I want to buy are to bolster the SQUAD which has a big huge hole at central midfield.
Those two could be the centre pair in a 4 4 2 with wingers or they could be with Carrick in a three man midfield which becomes 4 3 3 or 4 5 1 depending on if attacking or defending.

It doesn't necessarily follow that all the players have to play, it's a squad after all so it would be horses for courses. The likes of Rooney and Kagawa would by no means at all be guaranteed a game.

If possible though my first choice front pair would be RVP and Rooney for the most part.
