This Saturday see's Charlton Athletic make the long trip north to face Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park. Tuesday nights fixtures saw Charlton Athletic beat promotion hopefuls Mk Dons 2-1 courtesy of two Johnnie Jackson penalties, while Tranmere Rovers took a step towards survival playing out a 0-0 draw away to Carlisle.

When this two sides met earlier in the season at the valley they played out a 1-1 draw with Johnnie Jackson rescuing a point for the Addicks when he converted a 79th minute penalty to cancel out Adam Mcgurk's first half opener. This was also the game which saw Kemorgant and Green take over in starting roles from Hayes and Wagstaff and never really looked back. Hamer was the much busy keeper in this match have to deal with a incredible 8 shots on target compared to the two that Charlton could muster on target one of course being the penalty. This draw also saw Charlton equal their club record of remaining unbeaten for the opening 12 games of the season a run which stretched back all the way to the 1927/28 season (some of you on here may remember that season ;) )

This season currently sees Tranmere Rovers in 17th place with 33 points from their 30 games. This leaves them looking over their shoulder as they are currently only 7 points off their relegation places with some teams having games in hand!

My team to play against Tranmere -

Hamer

Solly Morrison Taylor Wiggins

Green Hollands Stephens Jackson

Wright-Phillips Kermogant

Subs
Sullivan
Cort
Pritchard
Haynes
Wagstaff

The referee for this one will be Andy Haines who has taken charge of 23 games this season giving out 70 yellows and 3 reds

Tranmere are quite a physical team so that is why I've gone for Kermogant instead of Haynes. I know people have been wanting us to start with Haynes and Wright-Phillips but in this game like away to Sheff Wednesday, when we have to hit the ball long we want it to stick and Kermogant is the best equipped player to do this.

Looking at past results against Tranmere it looks like a draw is on the cards and I'm gonna say 1-1

And judging by the O/S Jacko is very touch and go that he'll make the Tranmere game so I'm gonna go with Green and Haynes on the wings with Waggy replacing Haynes on the bench

To a certain extent, i'm not too concerned if Jacko doesnt make it - the midfield needs a shake-up in my opinion , would have preferred Hollands out, but maybe that can spark something.

Nice work again, Belv.

I'm going up for this one early. I want to get some photos of Flint Castle and the surrounding area.

Anyone else going to Prenton Park?

My team, though it won't happen (assumes JJ is out):

Hamer
Solly
Taylor
Morrison
Wiggins
Hughes
Stephens
Green
Haynes
Kermorgant
BWP

Sullivan
Cort
Pritchard
Hayes
Wagstaff

I was very close to picking Hayes instead of Kermorgant but nodded to the argument above about physicality. Hayes will get a game soon though I hope. I think we'll get at least a point.

Brilliant though they have been, I'd have been advocating resting a member of the back 5 given that games are coming thick and fast. But the weather recently has meant we haven't had to do that. I'm slightly concerned that Evina etc are getting zero game time. Who is our reserve right back? I've forgotten.

Anyone else going to Prenton Park?

I should be there, as I'm pretty anxious to see the team perform again.

I say should because I was in a meeting for two hours today with half a dozen people who were coughing, sneezing, spluttering and generally not presenting a picture of glowing good health.

So, I've just taken double echinacea and had a serious curry*and I'm hoping for the best.

Long time since I went to Prenton Park - right friendly place and decent banter with the fans last time.

*OK - even though I've always thought that no self-respecting germ or virus could live with Vindaloo fumes, there's no known medicinal effects for curry, except inducing labour - I just fancied one.
