Tried trawling back to find the thread. This is a picture of QPR’s proposed new training ground. Which didn’t get built. Would love to see us have something similar. How do those people who were advocating we build on Walton Street think anything approaching that be fitted on there? Not only that there was talk of a mini stadium or an arena as well.

Slight tangeant, but kinda related:

Had to take a train yesterday and went past the stadium. Are those all weather pitches still in use? One of them looked in significantly worse condition than our pitch, if you can believe that.

Yes they are a bit run down now.
Not sure why they can't be repurposed for use for the first team .

Surely we can just buy a plot somewhere and build one. Can't be that difficult to find a site.

Serious question….how big is the Cottingham site and is it all outdoor.
The academy kids use both Bishop Burton and the arena.for their training.
Looking on Google earth it seems to be one full size pitch, and a couple of other pitches that aren't full size. :emoticon-0138-think

That's about right. The structure isn't at all bad, they have every thing there, except any indoor playing facility. There is more open land down there owned by Yorkshire Water but the problem seems to be the access down Millhouse Woods Lane which is very narrow and the locals are always moaning about the amount of traffic down there ( they mean the training ground) One was complaining recently about 'a footballer' driving at speed, half on the pavement and half on the road'.

I've been around the facilities at Bishop Burton a few times and they're really good, the pitches are in great condition, is there a reason we can't just swap the first team and the reserves/youth academy around?

Do they still actually use the arena?
The arena is run by Tigers Trust and is in use six days a week, don't know about Sunday's. The Trust do a marvellous job with all kinds of groups from elderly walking football to disability groups. All age groups use the pitches and it appears to be booked up constantly.

On the subject of pitches, I wonder if the lads who laid ours have done something to try and make it durable for both footie and RL but it's backfired and just made it crap? Just wondering that's all...
