Back in the day I remember using Trainer Whitener on the front of my Adidas Kicks to make them look like the more expensive Adidas Samba I couldn't afford. Oh the joys of growing up on Hawthorn Ave.
Not heard anyone say slacks for many a year ref. Great stuff. Greenwoods for a nice pair of Farah slacks, I hope.
Christ ye my old man did. Now i think of it we did too didnt we? Gonna get me sannies on and off owt mam
I occasionally use the term slacks me sen. Glad you're bringing it back. Is that tigerfiley in the background. Wearing the braces?
Aside from proper shoes has no one heard of common projects or eytys? About as close to trainers as is acceptable. And that's close enough.
I think the houses are all gone now at least the one I grew up in on Greek Street. I'm assuming the people to what with their being no houses. When we moved from there to Spring Bank West my parents told me we were going to a "posh" area. Funny how things are all relative...
Blimey I was next street along Clyde St, I was down there a couple of weeks back having a nosey around and our house is still standing, just, so I went down Greeky and its just a large open space as along Cecil St and Rhodes St its all gone. I use to know every passage way linking Greek St and Cecil St as I was a paper boy for Dobson's down Greeky, there was even a tenfoot at the bottom of Cecil St through to Rhodes St. Another bit of useless information whilst I'm rambling on, nothing to do with football I know but does anyone remember that Persil?, Daz?, Oxydol?, can't remember now, detergent advert on the old b/w tv showing 'Shining White St' ? Well that was the next street along from Clyde St and during filming no one was allowed down the street which pi**ed me off as I couldn't deliver my papers and the filming took 3 days. Funnily enough even though large area's of Hawthorn Ave have been bulldozed White St is untouched and still looks much the same as years ago. And yes I went to Wheeler St school when Ostlers bakery and the Bluebird sweet factory were down there. Think I'll shut up now
Too many people on here concerned with what everybody else thinks its OK to wear and too many judging others on their shoes/trainers. Wear what you like and think looks good and if others don't, stuff them and don't be a sheep
Adidas Superstars/Shelltoes in the summer then flip to Nike Air Max 97 for chillier weather, they have the 'air' all the way round the sole so keep my feet elevated and warm.
Key word there. Wearing tight jeans, converse and some thick rimmed glasses doesn't make you a hipster, you'd be kicked out of Shoreditch for dressing like that.
I went out in Shoreditch a couple of times recently and it was ****. The bars all shut at 11pm on a Thursday night, even in Leeds they're open later than that. Is it a 24 hour city or what?
No that's is scary! I went to Wheeler until I was about 8 or 9 I think so until about '81/2. I also remember of the little alleys and cut throughs rather than ten foots. Also playing on "field" which was a tiny scrap of land by the railway.
